Default 92 Legacy Studdering on starts

Hey guys,
On my dads 1992 Subaru Legacy Wagon when you first turn on the car and give it any gas it just studders, RPM's drop and the car doesn't move.
If you let the car warm up for a few minutes it then runs fine.
Subaru said it was the fuel filter, so we put a new one in, but the car still does it.
Do you guys have any ideas?

Thanks,
Mike

Mine does the same thing. Haven't found out what is the cause yet. It seems to do it worse with premium fuel.

I think it's fuel injector related. I'm planning on putting a set of balanced & blueprinted injectors in soon.

I was having an issue a while back before I got my RS, It was herky jerky, didn't run well at all...
My mechanic did a tune up and it was good after that. I'm not sure what he changed, prolly plugs, wires, maybe a coil pack, fuel filter, air filter, oil / filter...
I'd start there....
How many miles on the car, when was the last retuine maintenance?
