Default Subaru Upgraded Muffler?

Does anybody have the $800 upgraded muffler for their STi? OR has anybody seen it that you could describe it? It's listed in the SPT catalog. Since they have to replace the muffler on my car from the accident I was considering getting the upgraded unit and paying the difference. Any thoughts?

Keith

I have the STi performance muffler... but on a WRX. Currently it is mated to a TurboXS stealthback with cat.

I think very highly of this piece, but I definitely agree to try to find one used. There is one on eBay right now: link

I think it's only an upgrade for the WRX.

Actually, it's an upgrade for either.

Just because it fits doesn't make it an upgrade.

2004 STi axleback = baffled design

STi performance muffler = straight through design.

Take that as you will.

SPT is coming out with a more resonably priced muffler shortly(probably in the 4-$500). It's made by Bosal(made the first SPT mufflers way back for the RS). Extremely nice looking piece but I wasn't able to hear it on a car so I can't comment on the sound. *May* not come with the disclaimer. But, it's not STi if that's what you are after.

The exhaust on my STI sounds great. Like a V8 rumble.
Has anyone tried the exhaust on an STi.

This is only to cover SOA's ass. A lot of the SPT/STi upgrade parts carry this warranty (or lack thereof).
