Default Aquamist to prevent detonation\pinging?

Has anyone considered installing an Aquamist system to prevent the detonation problem with the STi?

http://www.aquamist.co.uk/

Some shops I've seen in Texas were advertising them.

Some of the guys on Maxima.org use them. Check out this guy's website:
MardiGrasMax's Website

He ran an 11.9 1/4 mile in a family car. The aquamist system is just one of the mods he has, of course.

Also, a product like the J&S Safeguard will help retard timing to prevent pinging and detonation. Again, we shouldn't have to resort to aftermarket products to resolve an issue with a new car, but it will help for now, and if you plan to upgrade the power of your car, these products will help control detonation in those applications as well.

I agree with tanman in that we shouldn't have to spend money on aftermarket items to eliminate subaru's problem. That being said the aquamist system is a worthwhile mod. It lowered intake temps on a friends car by about 13 degrees. Regardless of the detonation issue it is definitely worth looking into.

It's a b!tch to do with the intake tract the way it is, but it's doable.

I'm doing it, will report back.
