Default Exhaust swap under warranty?

My stock muffler is rusting on the outside after only 1.5 years and 9000 miles. I would assume I would be able to get a new one under warranty so here is my question.......

If I took my car up to Flatirons would they be able give me the value of a stock exhaust and take that off the cost of the MRT exhaust? If so what would the difference be between the two that I would be left to pay? I am really only looking for a catback system as well. I would also assume that Flatirons would carry the exhaust for the 2.5 and not just the WRX right? Its hard to tell off the MRT website but it looks like they make an exhaust for the 2.5

Thanks for the help

SOA will probably not replace a muffler for surface rust. If it had a big rust hole in it they might though.

They do not give credit towards the MRT, but I bet installation would be free and you could try to sell your brand new warranty muffler yourself to recover some of the cost.

Surface rust on your exhaust is nothing, have you looked at your turbo lately. Oops, you dont have that "problem". Warranty turbos due to surface rust, Hell Yeah!

I suggest you remove the muffler and dip it in saltwater every day till it sounds really loud.

My old CRX si muffler used to rust a hole every year. Honda didn't warranty it - said the rust was because of short driving drips where the exhaust didn't get hot enough to evaporate. The muffler was the lowest point in the exhaust system - the tail pipes curved up from the muffler, so liquid would collect in the muffler instead of drain.

Sounds like you do mostly short trip driving with only 9k in 1.5 years.

I'm hoping the WRX doesn't have a muffler rust problem from short trips since the exhaust is so hot because of the turbo.

Oh well......I kinda hoped there would be an easy way I could get a new exhaust system for cheap

I kinda already figured I couldn't get the value subtracted from the MRT but I am surprised that they won't cover rust on the outside of the muffler..I kinda figured they would cover that like any other problem.

Oh well....

So since I won't get any discount....how much would the cat-back system cost (rough estimate)??
