I signed up (131), but I didn't notice it said only 3 runs. Hopefully its really 4 like a few of the others that have said 3. Rosecroft is short enough as it is, they need to at least give us 4 to make it worth while.

i've never been to rosecroft, but people told me to avoid that place because of crappy roads, debrise, cracks etc etc.
Whats your opinions on rosecroft?

The gravel just adds character...

I have no complaints about Rosecroft really, esp. given that it's about 20 minutes from my house. I haven't heard anything bad happen to anyone's car there. It's definitely not a smooth lot like Fedex but as long as you stay out of the corners where it's really gravely it's not that bad... hey, it's seat time... plus you only need to make a 2 hr committment instead of half the day.

The HS that the BMW club used for its autox on Saturday though, I will not go back to... small course, kinda confusing, didn't like how they indicated the gates, and I don't want any damn nails/screws in my tires (poor Steve!)

well I'd be 10th in STS if I were posted there. I asked them to switch me to STS from STX but it doesn't look like that happened. Fairly happy with my time, given I was over a year out of the seat and have an N/A Legacy.....

Ya freakin GOO! What the heck is that...after my first run, my tire had a huge hole in it. Like you could hear it from like 10 feet away it was such a loud leak.

Rosecroft = Rallycross, not Autocross

dont bother putting on the hoosiers, just run on street tires and drift that car, I am going there just for practice, so if I got bad times, oh well, I am going to use that time to learn and make my car look pretty in the dry

Yeah I love rosecroft, I don't know what the parking lot there is made of, but damn its slick as *****. Very easy to drift on. And for some reason I do seem to run quite a bit better at Rosecroft than I do at fedex. Yeah the potholes there do suck, but they generally try and run the course around the potholes, and the loose gravel just give you more to drift on

*groan* 12/1000ths out of second. Should've hit the port-a-potty before my last run...

Rosecroft isn't that bad (but I haven't been this year yet). The parking lot where you setup is gravel to that sucks if you have to change tires, etc. That said I won't be at that event or FedEx next week (building a brick patio at the 'rents).

Good luck,
Tony

For the other guys at the BMW autox on Saturday, what times were you running? I ended up with 51.xxx, but I had to get out of there shortly after my runs.

I kind of enjoyed the course, though. I worked the first run near the middle of the second figure 8, so I had a good idea of the course layout. However, the people who ran in the first group were a little off course sometimes. The M5 in that group nearly ran straight into my brother and I....twice. (but it sounded really good).

My best was my first run, a 54.xxx. Followed by
56.7? (pushed harder, ran slower)
56.?? (off course, coming out of the sunglasses)
55.4? (just wanted to stay on course)

Some guy in a stock silver wagon and the stock tires did better than me, that hurt

What kind of mods do you have?

I was surprised at my last run. I think my first three were 53.xx, and then two 52.xxx. I ended up leaving it in first until the right hander after the slalom, and then downshifting back into first at the gate of the second figure 8. The car was pushing like hell, though. The kumho 712s will have to be upgraded at some point. (and, well, the suspension, too)

Anyone know if BMW club is using that manassas parking lot again? Its really close to my house (well 10 - 15 miles) having autox's there would be sweet. Last weekend was about the only time all summer I couldn't autox, so I didn't make it out there. How was the lot? How large is it compared to rosecroft?

I want to say that it was similar in size to Rosecroft but I think it was smaller. I didn't mind since it was grippy as hell. It was fun dropping to 1st gear once or twice.

I was in the gray SE-R in the 2nd heat. Best time was 50.586 when I stayed in 2nd gear.

I was working in Manassas on Saturday so I just took a 3 hour lunch break.

Definitely felt smaller than Rosecroft to me. No problems with the surface. Fortunately Steve swept the course of sharp objects for me

Sorry, but I can't resist using the banana smiley... it was all a plot to make you pissed at me so you'd put a nail in one of my 92's so I could rationalize buying some Victoracers from jonmacs...
