Post SVX is rare but recognized

At a recent gathering that had three Skylines as the guest of honor, my SVX garnered more than it's fair share of attention. Most everyone there knew what is was, but very little else (thought it had a turbo-4, or 200hp, or came in 5-speed, etc.)

CRZ_MZL, where was this? I'd love to check out a Skyline, have never seen one in person. Only seen it in pictures and of course its a hot car in Gran Turismo The SVX and early skylines have some similiarities... AWD, big output motors, technological flagships, etc. I'm surprised that the SVX got some attention in the midst of some very good company! Thats very cool. Any pictures?

Later that night, the valet left my car parked out front instead of stuffing it in a back lot. Unless the Skyline had a mad bodykit, I doubt it woould get the same treatment. WE would look twice at the Skyline, but I bet 99% of folks in North America would not (ignoring the steering wheel placement)

Yes, and yes.

Skyline is a nice car. I think the SVX is nicer for 4 passengers. The I-6 in the Skyline looks like it is much easier to modify than the H-6 in the SVX will ever be.

The only thing I envy on the Skyline is the manual transmission. And the nifty electronic doodads on the dashboard. And the aftermarket support.

I've learned to live, and even come to appreciate my automatic transmission, I am slowly adding electronic doodads to my cockpit, and I can deal with the lack of aftermarket support.

I like my SVX. Lots.

Skyline: Engine by Nissan, Aerodynamics by Volvo.

I do have pix. I'll post them later.

More thoughts on the SVX:
The newer one (R34/35) was BIG!!

I'd say slightly larger than a Infiniti M30.

The older Skyline had PLASTIC intake headers. I'm not kidding!!!

Overall seeing one in the flesh (and seeing it being driven) was not as impressive as you would have thought. It's a nice car, but if I was getting something that large I would want 4 doors, not 2.

Greetings,

I think the "plastic" was in fact ceramic...sounds more sophisticated.

Nope, not ceramic, it was plastic. I tapped it myself. The R34 that was there had what appeard to be an identical engine, but with a metal intake header that was dimensionally identical to the plastic one on the R33.

Unfortunately I did not get a chance to go head to head with either Skyline.

Most newer GM crap have plastic Intake manifolds so plastic intake manifolds do exist

I saw another Skyline yesterday. The more I see it the more I realize ohgollygee that is rather portly 2-door car.

The SVX looks like a larger car but is dimensionally only a bit bigger than an Integra.

The Skyline is about the size of an Acura Legend coupe.

Nice engine and all, but the boolm is starting to come off the rose.

Shortly after seeing the Skyline an older lady said to me (in broken english) "Your car is very pretty"
