Default Wheels

i'm sure this has been asked before but i cant seem to find an answer, but how much do the stock BBS rims weigh (USDM)? im trying to find a rim i like for the car and if they are light enough then ill use the stocks for track and then buy some nice big ones for daily use. i hope the stocks are quite light. hehe

also wat is the biggest size i can fit (diameter and width)?

since it is an AWD car can i have a staggered set up?

and lastly how do i check to see if the wheel will clear the calipers?

16-18 lb..
I'd call u stupid if u run staggered setup on STi
18-245 should fit fine (maybe need a spacer)..
Most aftermarket wheels dont fit on STi due to STi's huge brakes..

get some Rota SDR or JDM V7 for track....

SDRs run around 600 shipped and the V7 are about double that price....

staggered = no no

That sounds like the optional BBS wheels for the WRX - are you sure, and which SOA documents?

FWIW, this vendor lists the weight as 60 lbs. for a set of four:

I had a set test fitted on my STi. They WILL scrape the brake calipers.

Rota should have already release a wheel to fit the STI as of this week. That means I should get mine in a week or two. The wheels really look like prodrive rip offs. But they are perfect for R compounds at $175 a wheel.
Or you can have HRE build you some custom wheels.

Staggering isn't a good idea on AWD. Any AWD. It cause front and wheels to turn at different speeds that is not factored in to the equation. It causes undue friction and can (and probably will) cause drivetrain problems. But hey them wider tires on the back look cool don't they.

Remember Function before form every time.

I do love Volk's though

T-WRX Racer,
Can you supply any info. on the Rota wheel to which you referred above? Any link where I can see the wheel? I'm looking for a spare set of track wheels and need them soon.
I'm not familiar with Rotas. Are they relatively light weight? Even more important, are they strong as I don't want a wheel breaking at 120 mph on the track.
TIA,
thebishman

Rota SDR;s fit and fit well, not sure I would use them on the track due to a few wheels that I have heard about cracking. The weight of the SDR's is around 17-18 pounds.

WRX 2002,

Have you heard of failures of SDRs specifically? There was a bad batch of Attacks that Rota was very upfront about, but I've not heard of any other problems with any other Rotas.

Your correct onlyh heard about the attacks, but at this stage I prefer to be cautious. The car is heavier than a WRX and is more powerful, just prefer to be safe.
