May I ask where you found the picture of that kit? I'm looking for specs on the diameter of the opening for the UK fogs.

Those are actually factory JDM accessories (may be available in the UK too, not sure).

Price is $299 per set for the ion lense, $279 for the blue tinted lense, or $259 for the crystal clear lense

I purchased the clear large round foglights from japanparts.com. Great people to deal with, and I received them in about a week. Paid around $330 for shipping to my door (CA). They have blue and the "multi coating" as well. I'll post a pic. once I install them.

How large are the fog lights? You can keep them, actually. I want to put HID Hella FF200's in there, and I just need the moldings to make it look pretty.

Some bad news... It seems that the USDM bumper beam interferes with where the foglight/surround should go. So, you'll need either the JDM bumper beam or cut your stock piece.

Aw, shoot. So I guess there was a reason that Subaru decided on a totally different design for the USDM fogs. Let me know if you find a work-around, and thanks muchly for the warning!

I plan on taking off the bumper to have a look. If all else fails, I'll get the JDM bumper beam and make the excuse for a big turbo and FMIC... all for foglights.

Wow... that's dedication to fog lights if I've ever heard it. And you can't see the funky pink STi covers anymore either.

I think I'm going to wimp out on the fog/driving lights, and just do the Canadian HID conversion. The STi's reflector headlights cast a beam similar to fogs anyway when they're correctly aimed. I just need a manufacturer who is willing to preserve the DRL's.

The HID conversion puts me at the maximum level of candela /sq ft in Ontario anyway, so HID driving lights on top of that would send me quite illegal.

And Janq would have a cow, too.

Default Fog Light Suggestions

If you want HID fogs, or HID driving lights in the fog position you can purchase the Hella Micro DE Xenons which should fit with a custom mount in place of the originals.

http://www.hellausa.com/maineng/lev1b/lev2bb/lev3bbc/aux_light.html

What I was trying to investigate was if the UK shroud was large enough to handle Hella's FF200 Xenon's, but it looks like that's getting way too complicated with having to order a new bumper.

I'm going to wait a couple of months until the Canadian aftermarket produces an HID solution to replace the Halogen headlights without compromising DRL functionality. If the JDM headlights have DRL's, then I can do that for $1500 CDN or less.

Thanks guys. HID fogs/driving lights would be sweet. Adding to my growing mod list.

The car is already prewired for fogs. The fog lamp kit includes the lamps, a relay that you plug in under the dash, the switch, and mounting hardware. So, it's basically everything you need. The problem is actually fitting them with the U.S. bumper beam.

No problem... But looking at things, I doubt a FMIC would fit with the fogs in place. They are pretty recessed, so it would get in the way of any tubing.
