Default easiest car purchase i've ever had in ohio

I bought a STi in cincinnati, OH at jeff wyler subaru. previously in this forum some people had bad experiences with some cincinnati dealerships regarding the STi. well... mandy walker treated me very well. she kept me up to date with STi availability and gave me a great offer for my trade-in. sticker for the STi and 17500 for 2002 stock wrx wagon trade-in. some of you may not think this was a great offer but as long as i did i guess i'm happy. edmunds states true market value for my trade-in is only ~15700 and private sell of ~16800. they also gave me a great interest rate of 3.81 for 60 mos

Interesting! I called Wyler and they wanted anywhere from $5000 to $8000 over sticker. Maybe they have seen the error of their ways...

If you don't mind I'm curious on what your monthly payments end up being? I assume you didn't put any additional cash down, right? Did you still owe any money on the WRX, how much?

Yes... that is the same place that I bought mine. It was really painless to get one from there. I guess I have had mine for about 3 weeks now and don't regret it a bit... well... except for the detonation problem... but what can you do.

I think that ch692115 ended up with a slightly better deal and I probably got... as I was proabably a bit more upside down with my tradein since I owed alot more than the car was worth... but it was still a good place to go.

I think that I ended up getting mine for right at sticker. But yes... a good place to go.

ch692115, which one did you end up getting?

I picked mine up from Jake Sweeney... They've been fantastic so far. I had nothing but problems with Beechmont Subaru which is where I bought my '02. Their service department is absolutely horrible. It can take a week for even a simple repair... STAY AWAY!
Was that a little too strong?

Congrats on the new ride! We'll all have to get together sometime!

sonicwrx - they did say they sold their first two sti's (blue) for 7000 over MSRP. but they've had a silver and black sitting on the lot (and a another black sitting in the back) for a couple of weeks, different salespeople told me different things. i got two simultaneous emails from two different salespeople. one said 1k over sticker the other told me sticker so i stuck with the sticker person. they claim they can't sell the current cars because everyone interested wants a blue with gold wheels

Istepnio/ jon cox - with that trade-in (17500) and what i owed (13300) i was able to transfer the difference towards a down payment of 4200. so with the interest rate the monthly payment is 555 for 60 months. my car insurance essentially remained the same, maybe ~$10 more per month

thebluewrx - i ended up getting the black one that they kept in the back. the showroom floor black model had 300 miles on it from a sale that didn't go over well. i bet anyone willing to take a car with that many miles can squeeze a deal out of them. when i got home i noticed a scrape on the front underlip and they are more than willing to fix it for me. are you getting detonation/pinging. i'm still breaking in the car so i haven't experienced any of this yet.

Yeah... that is probably right about the deal. I got the first one that they sold from there... although I think that I got mine for just alittle over msrp.... so they were lying alittle bit there. BUT... i did get shafted in the tradein... guess my head wasnt' really clear when I was signing all teh paperwork. *goes home to check paperwork*

But to answer your question... yeah... I am getting the det problems as I swing through 4k. I took it to the shop and they were pretty cool about it but ended up telling me that there was a page in the owners manual...

Nope, Blue with silver wheels. I'll probably be at the AutoX on Sunday at Scarlet Oaks if you wanna check it out.

This thing beats the pants off my old one!!!

GREAT! Are you going to compete? I will be running my Evo in ESP. There should be about three Evo's there this weekend. It'd be nice to get some Sti and Evo owners together. I've seen a blue one near me driving around in the Eastgate/Anderson area. And I saw a silver Sti pulling out of Home Depot on Ridge last night.

Fastrnu,
I think I saw you at the autox. If it wasn't you, it was another blue Sti. You put down some pretty decent times in AS...although, it wasn't good enough to beat the Vette's and BMW M roadster. I think you were about 3 seconds off the class leaders. AS is a pretty tough class at Scarlet.
BTW, I won ESP with my Evo. I think I'm the only "stock" car running in ESP. I need some race tires like everyone else in the class. The stock tires are wearing quickly..but it makes for a fun ride

Broeli,
Yeah, that was me. I'm still figuring out how to drive this thing. I agree... race tires'd be a huge help. As far as I could tell, I was ahead of all the vettes without race tires and was about 2-2.5 seconds behind the ones with. I'd say that was pretty competitive, but ESP may be a better choice. Is your evo really stock? If so, this could be an interesting battle...

See ya there next time!!!

I am stock with the exception of a Pruven Performance axle back 2.5" exhaust(fancy wording for a muffler and less than a foot of pipe) and a grounding kit. I plan to upgrade with at least a cat back exhaust and downpipe soon. I would also like to do some suspension mods...There will probably be 2 or 3 Evos in ESP on Aug. 10...the novice class winner will be put in ESP...he has full 3" turboback, SAFCII, etc.
I think you ran very similar times as me. Your Sti seemed to be sticking pretty good and I noticed a hint of controlled oversteer...seemed to handle well from the couple runs I saw.
With race tires I'm sure the Evo and Sti would be competitive in AS...
I heard from someone you were planning some suspension mods soon.

It sticks pretty well, there is still some understeer though. The nice thing about the STi though is that unlike my '02, you can really turn with your right foot. As soon as it starts to understeer, I'd just mash the GO pedal and it'd work itself into a nice drift... Pretty fun actually.
Not sure about suspension yet... I need a radio first. I'm always planning though...

See ya on the 10th!
