Does the installation of a custom aftermarket radio affect the STi's warranty? I saw mention of Subaru dealers being required to do the installation if you want to retain the full warranty. Is this true?

Providing you don't melt the wiring harness, an aftermarket deck will not affect the warranty on the rest of the car.

Correct,
If the non factory part causes a failure then warranty coverage is denied (not voided, denied there is a difference) I:E the radio is not properly grounded and it back feeds into the harness and causes a failure then it is not covered, have a reputable shop do the install and everything will be fine (hopefully) or buy a used WRX headunit and plug it in with some speakers. |
