i was going to switch over to the sti cluster in my rex. changing the dash and radion lighting is easy, but the clock and compass mirror have me stumped.

most of it can be done with red bulb covers, i got mine from partsexpress.com

i believe most are doing the lcd display with leds. the show and shine or electrical forum has a huge post on it all. i haven't done it yet (i want to do everything all at once) but there are pics there.

The clock is a LCD panel which uses green illumination. So NO! You can not change it unless you were to get a completely different LCD panel that is red illumination.

COOL name!!

my thoughts exactly, the only solution that i am thinking is putting some sort of clear, blue plastic on one side of the lcd and change the green to a blueish color...

won't be red but it would probably be better than green...

maybe source a red clock from a different car? audi? vw? pontiac?

Hondas that have amber clocks actually use the same green LCD as the regular cars. They just use a different tint on the cover to get the amber color. The same can be done for the Subarus. Most hobby stores will have colored film.

If red tint is not avalible, is it possible to use clear red paint used for model car tailights? thats what i used for the hvac controls and it works perfect, i even had green so i tried that and it reverted back to green, except a bit brighter since the condoms are pretty thick and block out some of the light

Ok so painted the bulbs then correct?

I went to the crafts store " Michaels" to be specific. They had a hugh role of red film but I was not sure if it would be to dark. I also though about the fact that the film will fade over time (Maybe by UV Rays) also how are we supposed to get it to stick to the clock. I was thinking of painting some packaging tape with some of the model paint that someone recommended and sticking it on their. I tried tape and red marker (Sharpie) and it did not look to bad just needed nicer paint since the sharpie had streaks

Guess we'll see what others have to say

Why worry about the freakin clock when you can just slap 3 nice STI "look" gauges in there with a Defi pod?
