Default Swappers Problems???

I am very seriously thinking about buyinga 01RS with a 02WRX heart.

I am wondering if there is any unforeseen problems waiting to happen and what I should be on the look out for?

Any info to help me make my decision would be awesome

Matthew

I would check who did the work and all the reciets. I think the 02 engine will hold up fine long as the install work was done properly. If not then look out.

I know that Presitge Subaru in NC did the work.

They seem to be like a very respectable dealership.

I wouldn't worry about it too much, then. Prestige is a good place. I mean, there is always the possibility that the WRX EJ20 that went in was a lemon, but you run that chance buying anything used. As far as problems specific to a car with a motor swap, shouldn't be anything.

The guy drives it everyday so I doubt it is a lemon.

I feel pretty confindent about the purchase, but didnt know what to expect before I posted this thread.

Thanks,
Matthew

Well having helped on this one...I can say that it should be pretty solid....Danny had a couple of minor issues...and ended up with a blown MAF...on the new motor...Work was done with one of our Master Techs...and it took a while...but the end result was worth it...

Couple of things..
- Car needed Brakes when we last saw it...
- different tires were a must.. 205.40.16's were kinda short...
- Already has an up-pipe and a UTEC so the motors pretty complete....
- It needed an exhaust...as its using the Stock WRX one right now..unless Danny changed it out...

if you have any ??? let me know....

Bill,

Thanks for the info. I rode in the car 2 weeks ago and now im selling my 00RS to get his car. He has replaced the tires with 225 which is a bit wide in my opionion. They are in really good shape. He still has the stock WRX exhaust, so if i get it, it would be the first thing to go then maybe some slotted roters just to be safe.

I am going to have to research the UTEC so I will know how to use it right.

Does he have reciepts for the swap plus labor? insurance said that I should have them b/c if im in a wreck they would replace it with a EJ25 instead of a EJ20, and I dont want that.

Thanks,
Matthew
