I just finished swapping an EJ22 in to my '92 Loyale.

Yeah, it moves pretty good since its a lighter car than the Legacy. A group of us are planning on going down to Sand Lake this winter. It should so much better with the extra torque!

Yes, but it involves more than just dropping the motor in and calling it a day. If you want to use the loyale ecu you need a rising rate fuel pressure regulator at the very least for fueling. Also need a notched crossmember for the downpipe to clear. If you want to tune it you'd need a standalone or do a wrx ecu/wiring harness merge.

I'm not sure if you would have to modify the loyale harness or not to run the 22t. First gen (90-94) na subies just need a few of the sensor polarities swapped and the 22t ecu.

It would be a nice project though.
