Unhappy The Wait

The waiting is getting harder. I'm #12 or so on the list... and I went to a few competitors already (checked out the G35 Coupe, Honda S2000, and a competing dealer for the STi...) The G35 Coupe had 180 miles and they still wanted msrp... not hanks. The S2000, well, I'm a tall guy and I didn't really fit, lol. As for the STi at the competing dealer, they wanted over MSRP which didn't fly for me. So... now I'm waiting. I figure I've waited this long I might as well wait some more (thought my current car decided to break it's own window mechanism... grrr). So now the waiting is on.

I can't wait!!!

Any of you still waiting to get yours? I'm so excited but the wait is unbearible.

Nearly everyone waited and got the car @msrp or lower.
Imagine if they had never brought these monsters to the US! What would you have gotten then?
It is most definately worth the wait.

I feel your pain. I've been waiting a couple months now, and can't stand it. If I was like some people who put in orders almost a year ago, I would have gone crazy by now. Depending on how things go with the dealership, I may get my car within a week or so. If not, it probably won't be here untill mid september.

Yup *still* waiting. Passed on June 24th b/c of the detonation issue and b/c it was my 2nd choice for color, that put me back in line until August...whee...now I'm almost to the point of sying screw it and waiting until either the B4 comes over and get that, or wait till next spring to avoid one more Salt Crust Winter for the new STi.

I put my deposit down in February and timed my order to coincide with bonuses paid in Sept. As the time gets closer my patience is wearing thin. I spent Saturday looking at sound systems, Saturday evening comparing on-line prices for what I liked and Sunday reading up on Dynamat for the doors. Been researching all-season tires for the winter as well. Pretty much all set, just need the car now!

I'm still waiting too.

Dealer told me they were getting their allocation on July 3rd. Turned out it was delayed and they didn't get it until the following week. But when they did get them, only half of the allocation showed up. I've been waiting ever since for the other half to show.

It's been especially hard for me because I was expecting to have the car by the July 4th weekend since he phoned me earlier that week and told me they were coming in. Now it's almost 3 weeks later and I'm still waiting.

Default Waiting May Be Good

Yeah, it sucks having to wait.

But on the other hand, it may be good:
1. Markups will lower or disappear altogether.
2. More money will be saved up for a down payment.
3. Detonation and other problems may be resolved.
4. Another car may catch our attention, (we need more rally cars in the US!)
5. The 2004 Evo may prompt Subaru to release an even better '05 STi.

Until it's time to purchase, happy dreaming.
I still am.

I'm #10 on the list at Carlsen Subaru, but I pushed my date back to December by request. This is to allow more down payment and a few items on my credit history to drop off!

You think the wait for the car is bad...Wait until you get it and have to keep it below 4000 rpm for 1000 miles.

It's like that Christmas when you went downstairs and opened your gifts before everyone else got up, but you can't really play at all because 1) it would make too much noise, and 2) you still plan on trying to get away with it by wrapping it back up.

The worst part is that you have to merge onto the highway like grandma because there is only about 900 rpm difference between gears under 4000 rpm. And I tried skipping gears once, missed 4th and got 6th, which isn't fun with a duallly charging your ass. After 7 months of waiting on a list, the first 1000 miles is pure torture. Good thing I only have 156 more to go.
