What are these things for? Are they necessary for making the gauges work? I don't see the part on the web site. Thanks for answering my newb questions.

Good question,
The P-94 fitting is sometimes request by people purchasing the boost gauges. The boost gauges come with a y fitting but a little small when installing it on the hose leading from the BOV. A way around it is to clamp the hose down on the y-fitting with nylon ties or micro clamps. Even if you purchase the P-94 fitting, it is good practice to still clamp the hoses down.

As for the 1/8 PT to 1/8NPT bung - this fitting is really for people who already have a non-Omori EGT gauge, looking to replace it with an Omori EGT gauge and have tapped their manifold for a 1/8NPT fitting. The Omori EGT gauge has a 1/8 PT fitting (which is the same as a 1/8 BSPT fitting). If you are tapping your manifold for the first time, you do not need this fitting. Just have your installer drill and tap for a 1/8 BSPT fitting.
Thanks,
Thaison

Unhappy 60mm Boost gauge

Great gauge, great packing, fairly quick shipping BUT why oh why was I not warned about this y-adapter I would need?! The first step in everyone's directions is to cut the hose to the stock BOV. Once you have done this and see that the y fitting you have is not going to work.......you have a problem. I have that problem. I would have gladly paid the couple bucks initially to skip the hassle and preserve what was otherwise a great first buying experience with J-spec. I rigged it up but I'm not as happy with that part of the install as everything else.

FYI - You do not need to get a bigger Y-fitting. Install the Y-fitting that came with your gauge on the hose leading to the fuel pressure regulator, instead of at the BOV vacuum hose. It fits!

STI4me, thanks that looks like it would have worked......but alas I have already cut that original hose. So after spending all sunday looking for connectors and hose couplers and all that (which I am not satisfied with) I just wanted to let folks know that they need to consider how they are going to do the install if they have never done one before. Your way will work, or get the adapter AT THE TIME OF ORDER.

STI4ME - Thanks for the correction. I probably should look at the instructions from the Omori kit more often. It does say to tap the hose leading to the fuel regulator.

The Professor - Sorry about your install hassle, PM'ed you with a solution.

So to recap, if you are tapping the hose from the BOV, please buy the P-94 for an easier installation. If you tapping the hose leading to the fuel regulator, the Y-fitting that comes with the kit will do just fine. Regardless of where you tap though, we suggest you always clamp down the hoses onto the Y-Fitting you use.

Two questions: Did the fuel pressure guages come in with this order? And secondly - the JST CF pod - does that only fit the 52mm guages (and not 60mm)?

Thanks,

-Keith-

Will the 45mm gauge fit the Subaru OEM 3-gauge pod? I might be interested in a boost gauge if it will fit without much fuss. Also to match the other optional gauges in my '02 I guess I would get the '04 look one since the needles are red?

Hi Keith,
The fuel pressure gauges did not come in on this order. I am assuming you are looking for the 60mm variety. I should be getting them in the next shipment - but will check again tonight to confirm.

We do have the exact same pod for the 60mm. Didn't get around to posting pics on that one.
Thanks,
Thaison

Hi,
Since you already have a Subaru OEM 3-gauge pod and intend on keeping the other gauges, adding an Omori boost maybe a little bit of a hassle.

The panel on the OEM 3-gauge pod is made for a 42mm gauge. Hence, some dremeling work will need to be done before you can insert the Omori boost. Not impossible but I would categorize it as a fuss.

As for the 04 style to match the remaining gauges, I think the backlight would be different - green versus white?
Thanks,
Thaison

Well actually the gauge lighting is green, or green-white (?) although my turbo gauge is white because I removed the green condom to make it brighter. And the needles are red so yellow ones would definitely not match.
How much dremeling is in needed to make the 45mm fit? I don't mind doing a little work if the payoff is worth it, and it appears that this is a nicer gauge than the Lamco one (aside from being in psi).

Hi,
You just need to widen the opening by 3mm in diameter. IMO, it is not difficult at all. To do a proper job, you will need a Dremel, patience and about 10 minutes.

So the 04 should be a closer match with the red needle/green backlighting.

How about a three gauge pack of 02/03 meters
Thaison

Hi Thaison,

Well, I would really prefer an '02 WRX-look in 52mm, I believe you indicated it was only available in 60mm, however.

Thanks,

Are either or both 52mm DIN panels angled like the panel in the first picture?

Can you get OEM pods for the DIN panels?

CTKAG - I wish they would be able to produce the 52mm fuel press too. But I'm just glad to get the 60mm Fuel press in my next shipment.

Concillian - Both 52mm DIN panels are angled. P106 is much easier to adjust for fitting into the OEM gauge housing. We can get the housing for you. Please email me with the package req.

Thaison

Default 45mm Mech Boost Gauges

We've had a number of emails inquiring if the 02/03 WRX Look 45mm mech boost gauges are in stock - we have plenty. For installation instructions on how to fit them into the OEM (Lamco) pod, please go to the "Installation Tips" section of our site.

prices on the web site do not match those advertised here. Why? Just waiting for answer before ordering.

45mm EGT = $160 vs. $170 on website

Turbo4me - Thank you for bringing that to our attention. We adjusted pricing and reflected it on the forum without changing the website and shopping cart. The price on the website should be $160 for a 45mm EGT gauge now.
