Post Kartboy Shifter Forester edition installed!

A couple weeks ago, I ordered a Kartboy shifter for my Forester. Unfortunately, it turned out that the shifter was too low for the Forester. The total shifter height was reduced by about 2.5~3"!

I contacted Tom at Kartboy and he offered to make me a longer shifter for me. He would keep the same fulcrum point used on his Kartboy (for shorter throws) but use a longer lever arm.

The first one that came back was angled back a bit too much. Tom took that one back and then reworked it so that it was right.

The shifts are much shorter and firmer compared to the stock Forester lever now. The gears engage with a postive "click, click". It looks like the overall height has been reduced by about 1.5". The lever vibrates a little more because Kartboy (much like other short throw shifters) don't use the rubber-dampening that's in the stock shifters.

I'll post photos later.

Thumbs up

That level of attention and service speaks well for Kartboy. Maybe having had you as their guinea pig they'll market the Forester short-throw to other MT Forester owners.

I told Tom at Kartboy about us Forester owners here at i-club being a potential market.

I don't know if he wants to have to make a different model on a regular basis, but I'm sure he'd sell a few extra at the blink of an eye.
