Default Ripples in rear glass

I just had my rear glass replaced and I was looking at it the other day. There are ripples across the top drivers side section of the window that are about 3 inches from peak to peak. Each ridge isn't equal either like it is meant to be their. More random than anything else. You can actually see the difference in the height when the glass meets the gasket on the side of the window. They run perpendicular to the window defroster.

I went back to the place that replaced it for me and he told me that it was perfectly normal. He said almost all glass has this. Is this correct or is he trying to screw me? I just want to make sure this won't cause a leak or sacrafices the safety of the back window.

Oh and one more thing. I don't think this made a difference but.... I didn't notice it until after I got my back window retinted. The first one wasn't done right so I had it replaced. The tinter said they had to use high heat to get the old tint off. I am pretty sure that this wouldn't do anything to the glass but is there something else they could have done in the process?

is it factory or aftermarket?? and the tint will show the natural deformations in the glass.

I believe he said it is oem glass but the tag on the rear glass is from PPG I believe. The ripples aren't really on the tint area they are more in the black area near the weather stripping. It almost seems like it is causing the rubber stripping to not meet the glass correctly either

I'm not so sure about the rear glass, but I can tell you I did a lot of research on windshield glass when I had mine replaced.

Alot of the cheap windshields will have very bad deformation/waves in them. This is really noticable if you look at the glass at an angle. Next time you come up to a stop light look through the windshield of the car next to you. have your front windshield about even with their back bumper. The glass will be wavy. Some of the cheaper glass is like this by looking straight at it.

I have a PPG windshield and you can see slight waviness at an angle. I had a small heated argument with the installer about it, but there wasn't much I could do. My main beef was, why was the replacement one I had put in at a speedy glass fine?

I think the real answer is the quality of the glass has gone down the crapper. Even OEM from the factory have the ripples if you look at an angle. Not all do, but a fair amount. The installers had the wrong trim on. They did fix it, but it still didn't fit all the way flush. But after being there for 2 hours or more i just wanted to leave.

Take your car to another shop or somewhere and see what their comments are. if they say the glass does look like it's not right and you get several people saying the same thing, I'd go back and complain to the installer.

if it was OEM it would have the Fuji emblem inthe glass
