Question Any thoughts on auto tranny problem?

Not my car.. GF's.

Car only has 7500 mi on her!

If I accelerate from a stop in 1,2 or D, car revs really high and seems like it won't shift.

If I let off the gas slightly, it will shift with a "clunk".

Any ideas? It's obviously under warranty, but I'd like to know if the dealership tries to BS me.

TIA,
-Mike.

well... in 1 it wouldn't shift...

in 2 or D it should... but if you are accellerating WOT then usually the tranny will go to redline (or as close to RL as it is allowed to) before shifting... could it be that?

If not, maybe the TPS is bad and giving a faulty reading to the trans? without more info, I would look into this possibility... that and the obvious one of checking to be sure there is enough trans fluid in the tranny...

Thumbs up

Thanks, and I should mention this is a Hyundai Accent so not sure if all that applies. Checked the tranny fluid and everything is OK.

I do know that I can accelerate very slowly (barely touching the gas) and it still won't shift.
