Default Just ditched the last cat... exhaust burping... normal?

I just installed a stromung 3rd cat eliminator and now my exhaust seems to burp just a little after revving the engine as the RPMs come back down. Is this normal for a catless system? Sounds like a little bit of backpressure or something. Just picked this up from revving the car in my driveway to listen for leaks, haven't taken it for a drive yet.

my frankenstein exhaust setup as of right now

PDE catless uppipe
Bosal twindump catless Downpipe
Stromung 3rd cat elminiator (catless of course)
stock mid/resonator pipe
Prodrive Muffler

And I've got the Cobb Stage 2 AccessECU flash.

Everything is 2.5" except for that stocker pipe, and the bosal pipe may be just a hair bigger as well.

Is this just characteristic of a catless exhaust? Or is somethign wrong somewhere? Any help, comments, suggestions, reassurance would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Scott

as in... normal?

It's pretty much just a little "...bup bup.... " after revving it up. Like "..vvrrrrRRRRRRRRAAAARRRRrrrrrrrrrr... bup bup... "

You like that ^ ?

"Catless afterfire" = ok then?

if it is backfiring some, yeah it's ok, as long as it isn't real harsh...not for sure though, can you tell us how it sounded again?

...vvvrrrrRRRAAAARRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrr.... bup bup....

Yeah it's pretty mild. In fact, I just went for a drive and couldn't hear it at all, but while parked in my driveway with the door open i could hear it while revving.

I guess that's just the welcome song to the catless club.... works for me!

Was hoping the exhaust would have gotten a little louder, but i didn't notice much.... that durn stock midpipe with the resonator is holdin me down... all i want is a lliiiiiiittttle more rumble... guess that's what i have to settle for in order to keep the girlfriend and neighbors happy and keep the ricers off my back. Oh well.

Didn't feel a whole lot of gains though, maybe a little smoother acceleration, but i don't know if that's just me driving good today ... will test 'er out a little harder as soon as my brake pads show up.. mine = toast... don't wanna go to crazy with dead pads.... gettin scary grindy noises... no good.... come onnnn FedEx Man.

thanks for the replies guys. Mucho appreciatoeoeoe

The midpipe w/ resonator isn't really the main source. I've asked a few muffler shops about using two resonators if I had a custom 3" turboback made. Their approximate figures said that the resonator will make the exhaust 15% quieter. I have no idea where they came up with that but almost all of the noise will be characteristic of your muffler. A TurboXS stealthback catless with the stock muffler still doesn't sound much louder.

By the way tdxflex, thanks for the donut gasket! Stealership was going to charge me another $13+. Worked perfect.

yeah those things can get pretty expensive but at least they're really thick and work well. If you just want a little more sound you might be able to get what you want if you remove the resonator, but if you want more than that, it's either increase the diameter of the piping or change out the muffler.
