Hi there.
Where can I buy the latest Borla headers (gen. 4?) for a '00 RS? Who has the best price on it?

Borla Growl can't be beaten. I wish I had some web space. I have a nice high resolution sound clip of an RS equiped with Borla Headers, Random Tech Cat, and Stromung Dual Tip.
It sounds so sweet! Brad |

I've heard time and again that borlas are peices of *****! and they'll crack eventually. Not from my own personal experience, but i've read that a lot in the forums. Is that just with previous generations or does the gen 4 have more integrity? I was just thinking about waiting for cobb to finish their R&D, i figure it'll at least take me another year or so to save up the cash

The gen 4 is a gen 3 less the crossbrace, nothing else changed. |

I heard the new Borla header on a 2.5 GT yesterday, coupled with a resonated cat back Magnaflow system...it rocked--low grumble and the opposing cylinder thump. And Borla apparently has stood by their product through those hard (cracked) times.

www.summitracing.com has them for about 275 plus $6 shipping(yes, $6)
my friend got em for his 02 RS, and they came in in 3 days, went on easy, and sound very nice. he's also running a Stromung dual tip cat-back with a 9 inch resonator, and it sounds very very nice. i cant wait to get them for my car. Murray 97 2.5RS SWAP! |

I've yet to hear of a problem of people getting their headers serviced (replaced) due to defects. I think I've even heard of them replacing headers that have been wrapped.

Header cracking was an issue with previous generations due to a brace plate that was welded in and didn't allow the metal to flex. This caused hairline cracking in the headers. Borla did some research and found the piping didn't even need bracing in that area and unpdated their header design.
Honestly Borla are the cheapest full stainless headers on the market. They also sound the best too. They are non equel length so you may be sacrificing a little in performance but that is negligable because headers, even full exhausts don't give that much of a noticable performance gain. . By the way my Sound Clip is 783k and is about 10 seconds long. You will get a good idea of how deep the headers make the exhaust sound. This is a characteristic solely of the headers. Nothing else in the exhaust stream can take responsibility for the drastic tone drop. The loudness and raspiness come from the Stromung Dual Tip and Random Tech Cat. Brad |

I ordered my Borla header from www.renickmotorsports.com. They have it listed for $270. I paid for normal UPS ground shipping, and ordered it on Tuesday (the 22nd) and i recieved it on Saturday afternoon (the 26th). When i got the bill with the header, they charged me $249.12, while shipping was $25. Also, I live in Ohio and they're located in California. It took 4 days and cost $274.12. Damn good deal if you ask me!
Oh, yeah....lets have a listen to that sound clip!! |
