Question Custom Short Shifter design help, it is worth it :) 2000 RS to 02 WRX.....

I have heard both "it does" and "it does not" work, which is it please? i really woud like to use my short throw lever from my 2000 RS.

could you guys do me a huge favor please? could you take some measurements for me? i designed my own short throw shifter lever for my 2000 RS and I LOVE IT; I have had so many compliments on the feel, height, and action of it i want to make another one for my WRX if it is not the same, when i get it at the end of the year.

i designed mine after a combination of a few of the straight shaft designs that are on the market for the 98-01 RS. not much will change from my original design (if it even needs to be changed) except for the width of bolt hole (which I hear is wider for the WRX), and the height of the bolt barrel hole (which I hear is different also).

This is how basically got all my dimensions, along with the help of many of you out there:

this is the final draft of my short throw shifter lever for my RS that i gave to the machine shop:

and here is the finished product:
<IMG SRC="http://216.242.153.40/MembersList/UserPics/1510/new_shrt_shftr_lever7.JPG" border=0>

here it is after with my custom aluminum shift knob:

this cost me a total of $100 to have made, and with my small addition of a shifter boot seat, and the shortening of the shaft height it is the shortest I have felt. many Impreza drivers in my area love it (they notice the aluminum knob and the how short the height is), and even the salesman at my dealer took out his short throw lever (not naming which one) and replaced it with custom made one he had made at my local machine shop from my draft.

I will state again, I DO NOT produce these levers. This was a FUN project for me and I enjoy making things better, that is why I did it. My design draft is available for everyone to use if they choose to.

If anyone can tell me if the dimensions have changed from the 1998-2001 RS to the WRX, and what they are it would great.

Thank you,

justin

You have to change the ball on the shifter - kartboy already has one available for WRX.
