Default Question about intercoolers???

I always wondered about spraying your intercoolers... I like the stealth look by spraying a FMIC flat black... But does this effect performance??? Please explain why and give support...

Nope, purely cosmetic. Spraying your IC black may even make it work less efficiently when the sun is bearing down on it (saying as black absorbs far more energy than the bare, silvery metal).

You may want to check around. Sompanies (APS, MRT I think) sell FMIC's that are black. It is much harder to tell they are there.

If you want the stealth look you will definately achieve this. I would think that direct sunlight on your intercooler would be unlikely if your intercooler is recessed. If you are really worried about performance losses due to the color black then simply install a waterspray kit on the FMIC.

Check these pics out below, this is Ford's new XR6 Turbo with factory black 'stealth' intercooler.

One more pic with a beautiful harbour view!

There is a special black coating that can be used to make the intercooler even more efficiant. It isn't simply black spray paint, it's special.

No, that's nice, but there is a special coating that actually helps pull the heat away

I couldn't find an intercooler specific one, but BBE Heat Radiating Coating sounds like the one.
Thanks!
