Can I use a factory 2002 RS intake on my 99 RS if I make an area for the MAF?
Thanks C

oh you mean factory air box...whoops, I read it wrong.
the differnce is 99 had the silencer in the fendor, the 02 has it all external by where the maf would be, 99 also had the pre maf filter, 02 doesnt have that. Jay |

The stock boxes are totally different. Other than the silencer (snorkus) in the fender, the MY00+ use the rear airbox as the only filter... you would leave the MAF unprotected. Have you lost your factory fender mounted airbox and plumbing?

Hmmm...unless of course I use the cone filter I have as the pre filter? |

The majority of the resonance is resolved by the bannana looking thing on the 99 intakes. The MY00's use totally different resonance chambers than the 99's. The only part that would be worthwhile would be the rear airbox but you'll need to buy the gasket, and still have to source the MAF-2nd airbox connector piece.

Thats really the main reason i want to get rid of it, the vac guage bounce at wot in high gears/heavy load... this may or may not be normal considering the torque curve/speed.
