Question Tuning PE 660s : How & Why?

After hearing Nathan and Clark's discussion on another thread on ths, I would like to hear everybody's input and comments on how to do it, how hard it is and if there is a better way. Also any comments on the 800cc's?

Thanks!

Dylan

Pay very careful attention to your tps cross over %.

Getting them somewhat right is easy enough.. but since you go into open loop at either 69%+ TPS, or > 3900 RPM, either one of those conditions will trigger different fueling.

If your still in the 0% column it'll affect drivability... if your in the 10% column (using different fuel values) and still in open loop, then you can all of the sudden dump in fuel (due to the mass MAF voltage change), and you run the risk of partial throttle, low throttle misfires.

whenever you make a fuel change.... don't even bother gauging if it's done it's thing until you've put the car through it's paces a few times.

Whatelse... oh yeah, they're a labor of love, and if you go too nutty on the bottom end you'll have the occasional time where it won't start on a crank for like 10 seconds....

anything else? yeah... they weren't worth my time to tune...

Peace,
Jorge (RiftsWRX)

It's not so bad. I've tuned many. IT takes some time to street tune it is all. Dropping the % in the 10 column to 30% instead of 60% would work better but would take time to do properly. At 38-60% throttle you don't go into the 10% column but often get significant amount of boost which triggers lean conditions. You can just add fuel at 10% but it may run a bit rich at part throttle. E-mail me if you need more help. I have those in stock BTW.

800cc's easier to tune? Hah!

Notice how much the fuel has to be adjusted to get the 660's to run? It will only be worse when you have bigger injectors and more fuel.

No problems with the 660's in my car.. Motec loves them.

So the only problem with the injectors is trying to tune the UTEC around them...

Looks like that nails it, GEMS here I come.

Open loop fueling the whole map is so much easier anyway.

Lets not drop this subject. This is the LAST thing hanging in the balance for me to finish my car. Im looking at either the UR low impedance 785cc or the PE 800cc I have a utec and a JDM ra c ecu... I have no problem flashing my ecu to "make" it work with the PE... any more help would be great...I know where most of the local guys stand on this, so looking for some outside views too.
thanks
-nick

-nick
