Default What should I lubricate injector orings with?

Hello,
I am installing my fuel injectors (side feeds) after cleaning them, and my book says to lubricate the orings with a light machine oil...does anyone know what exactly I should use? My hardware store was confused by the term. They suggested maybe 3 in 1 or marvel...what do y'all think?
much thanks
Micum

I installed new STi injectors last weekend, didn't know about lube for them. Is it critical, like should I take them out and lube them, or can I leave it???

Thanks

Engine oil is fine, synthetic or dyno.

TheWeis - no, you don't need to remove them. If they're in and not leaking, you're fine.

The reason to lubricate in the first place is to prevent o-ring damage. It's very easy for one of the injector o-rings to stick and get cut or torn while installing the injectors if they're not lubed just a bit.

Personally I would not use engine oil to lubricate them. It tends to get gummy and attract dirt. It also tends to make rubber brittle over time.
