Anyone install Autometer gauge cup on steering column like OEM?
Like the OEM pod but not the $100+ price tag just for the pod without gauge! Has anybody used the $14 Autometer Cup and installed on the steering column like the OEM pod? Can't find any clear pictures or explaination of hardware that is included with the cup, or installation instructions specifically for steering column mount. Thanks!

the cup comes with 2 large tapping screws to mount the base to and 2 machine screws to tighten down a ring that holds the cup onto the base.
im using 2 cups on the a-pillar. |

Thanks for the reply kenchan. Does it sit flush or does the mounting bracket stick up? In your opinion, would it mount on the steering column off to the side and not stick up too much? How solid do you think it would attach? TIA for the input!

Sorry, the angle is kinda crappy. The boost gauge sits nicely(depending on seat position) in between the tach. It covers up a bit of the redline, but no big deal. The steering column is sturdy enough to hold the pod/gauge.
Here's a little different angle. |

I am using the cup with a 60mm guage... I didn't trust the screws that came with the kit so I used some nuts and bolts with lockwashers... when I am sitting in the car it only covers a bit of the tach (9000 rpm and up)
The only thing I have to change is I am not a fan of the silver screws that hold the pivot, I am going to find somthing that looks a bit better, or just paint them black to match the cup. |

Yungimoto - Thanks for the pictures , your setup looks good. I guess I'll be ordering my gauge and cup today then!
mdex - Good advice about the bolt and lock washer, thanks! |
