Thaison, how are you?

Question....Exhaust wise, I only have a Prodrive axle back. Unfortunately, lack of funds are preventing me from getting a full turbo back exhaust.

What kind of gains am I looking at if I get just the downpipe? It's a really nice looking piece.
Does this bolt up to factory locations?

Thanks

Default Downpipe

I currently have a TurboXS exhaust system. Will the Bosal downpipe fit in place of the Turbo XS bell mouth downpipe and bolt up to their midsection?

Hi,
We had dyno'ed the car prior to the ECU Tek reflash and it was pulling 184 whp with 160 as baseline. So the entire setup of catback, dp, uppipe and Samco hose brought 24 whp gains - stock boost, no boost controller. I would say that conservatively, the dp was responsible for 10-12 whp of those gains.

The DP downpipe does bolt up to the factory cat section. It is a complete replacement for the factory downpipe section only so it will work with any stock or aftermarket catback.
Thanks,
Thaison

Hi,
Just to confirm, the exhaust system you have right now bolts up to the third cat. If this is correct, the Bosal will work without any issues.
Thanks,
Thaison

Hi Bob,
There are absolutely no fitment issues. We have it on our WRX and the installation did not require a hammer But seriously, our installer did not have any fitment issue, including the hanger. Additionally, we have had this piece on for about 6 months and I can personally say nothing but great things about it.
Thanks,
Thaison

Hmmmm.....sounds interesting....
I actually have a Unichip Stg 1 set @ 16 lbs psi......I will be getting an EBC to control boost a little better. I also have Samco hoses waiting to be installed
I just wanted to know if just the downpipe section would make a difference or would the up-pipe & cat-back be necessary to get any significant gains.
Sounds like it will......OH YEAH BABY

MyRuRex - I would estimate that elimination of the downpipe cat with the Bosal in your config would be closer to 8-10 whp.
Thanks,
Thaison

Any chance the Bosal DP fits the STi DP or does the STi have a slightly diferent design?

TIA,
Leo

Good question.....
Any CEL's w/this DP?

I assume no cuz there are no sensors but no harm in double checking

DJ626 - The turbo outlet is 2.5" and the wastegate outlet is 1.0"

blue_2002 - That is a really sweet catback you have. We have have been backordered on that catback for one month As for the DP, give us a call, we have plenty.

drunkguy - There should not be any issues with running the DP with everything else just stock. The only issue maybe a CEL (Cat inefficiency code) which will not effect the performance of the car at all.

Leonardo - I would love to say there are no fitment issues with the STi - and there shouldn't be, but since we haven't experienced the install first hand, I don't want to commit. So for the first STi owner in the Bay area who would like to buy this setup, we'll offer a free install.

BTW, I did check on the STi Information forum and saw that there was a post by an STi owner indicating that he had installed a Bosal DP. Unfortunately, he didn't post anything about the install.

MyRuRex - Sorry but a CEL fix does not come with the dp. The dp throws a CEL on some folks and does not on others. Our car does not throw a CEL even though we are only running with the third cat.
Thanks,
Thaison

Bump...

Nice California 91 octane numbers.

Ugh, who needs a hanger anyway? The SS downpipe is probably one of the heaviest out there - I have no hanger, no problems. Besides when has Thaison ever not corrected any thing that was wrong with any of his products - you can count on him making it right, that is where the real value is no risk shopping.

More Bosal DP in stock. Adjusted package pricing due to component pricing changes.

In response to Leonardo's question, I have confirmed that there are not fitment issues installing the Bosal on an 04 USDM STi.

Couple of questions here. I already own a Prodrive rear section which bolts onto the end of OEM resinator pipe. I would like to order the downpipe and the race downpipe to eliminate the 2nd cat. Will the race downpipe bolt onto the OEM sized flanges? Do you also sell the the race downpipe w/o the package?
