Question AT OIL TEMP Light flashes

ok, every time I start my car the AT OIL TEMP Light flashes 16 times. Before I go spend money to have it diagnosed I was wondering if anyone has info on what the root cause is.

Oh yeah, the car is a 96 Legacy L, ATX, AWD, RHD.

any helps is appreciated!

That "AT Oil Temp" light flashes because there is a problem with one of the sensors in the transmission. The TCU has stored this code, and is waiting for someone to pull it, verify the problem, and fix it. Once the problem is fixed, "AT Oil Temp" light will go away.

Well, I have figured that much out, but it flashes 16 times, usually when a specific amount or pattern flashes it symbolises what code the TCU/PCM has stored. Thats my question, what is the 16 representing.

Check your ATF Fluid level.

Put the parking brake on, and shift it to neutral.

Start the engine and go under the hood to see what the fuid level is.

Chances are it's low.

16 doesn't represent anything. It is the default number of blinks when there is a problem. The first gen OBD 1 computers are the same.

On the older cars when you could diagnose the problem with the blinking light, you would have a long blink followed by a short blink. Long blinks indicated ten's place, short blinks indicated one's place
