My previous car (g35) had auto up/down on all four windows; very useful, makes you wonder why more manufacturers don't offer it.

There was also a nice option with the Infiniti's FOB, you could roll down all the windows with it, helped to cool off the interior on a hot day.

Is this something Subaru offers or is it an aftermarket setup ?
I don't think I'd do it for half a grand though...but all depends how bad you want it.

The window switches are made by Nissan. I dunno how the one touch feature works, but I've thought of going to a Nissan dealer to inquire - just haven't had the time yet.

Anyone know if there's something special with the motor or what?

If I'm not mistaken, you could use the maxima switches in a GC8 Impreza to get one touch up/down functionality. Can't see why it would be any different on the new car.

Scrounging nissan parts sure sounds better than droppin $450 on switches!

Why take switches from other cars...the driver side window has the one touch switch. just buy 3 more from subaru. Of course that is if switches are the only things required to make the rest of them one touch.

reason more don't do it is cost and liability.

auto-up must have sensor to note resistance and stop the window.

costs extra and introduces risk of injury if safety measures fail.

Subaru USED to offer Auto-up on the drivers door. We can all thank Consumers Reports for why we no longer have it, they gave a negative review of one of the Subaru products and suggested that the Auto-up feature was dangerous.

I have noticed that the switches in Toyota products (Forerunner) look very much like the switches in a Impreza and they have Auto operation for both the front windows. I have not yet had time to compare them side-by-side.

If you're electrically inclined, it's quite easy to do it yourself with two DEI model 530T's, which retail at Best Buy for 89.99 (special order only). I'm sure you can find them online for that price too. So $180 vs $450...I think $270 for the labor for this is ridiculous. Shouldn't take more than two hours.

FWIW, my clifford 600 alarm, i was able to get 2 of clifford's window modules for $150 each. it offers auto up and down. if you get stuck something when the window is going up, the current sensing circuit will stop it.

when you arm the alarm, the windows auto up. and within 10 second, press channel 2 on alarm and windows cracks a pre-dtermined space.

disarm, and withint 10 seconds, press channel 2 again and you can lower the window all the way.

i got spoiled on my previous daily with this.

Heh, I think I got the best deal: $50 for a piggyback computer chip for my Jetta that lets me do it with the factory remote Up, down, vent, etc.

Anyway, I've gotta have something similar for my STI or I'll lose my mind.

The other day something odd happened (at least I think it's odd and I can't find anything in the owner's manual about it)...I hit the driver's side window button UP (as both the driver's and passenger side front windows were all the way down). When I did this, BOTH windows went up simultaneously.

Don't know what I did, but I haven't been able to replicate it. Has anybody else experienced this, or did I miss something in the manual about it?
