Default Last night at the dragway

I only got one run in last night, and i f@cked up out of the whole.
I reved it to 5 grand and dumped it. The REX flew foward, then bogged so bad. Anyways I need more work on my launch. But I still got away with a 14.95 @ 93mph. With a 60' of a (winch) 2.3. Some one told me if you shave a tenth of the 60', its worth 2 tenths of the 1/4 mile time. Is this true???

Actually both "practice" and "practise" can be used.
Practise is mainly a British spelling.

Wow man 103 for a trap speed should be way faster than a 14.1, 103 is good for a low 13. What kind of mods do you have?

I was up there wednesday night watching some WRX's run. I talked to the owner of a wagon that had a vishnu chip, DP, and exhuast he was running low 15's and complaining that all he was doing was roasting the tires out of the hole. I wanted to tell him to invest in a clutch but instead I nodded and left.

btw if you are a member here I did see your next run and on the launch the wheels weren't moving and i'd be willing to bet there was a funny smell when you got back in the staging lanes.

Hey so has friday been more packed than wednesday? We got 3 runs in wednesday and didnt get there til 7:20 ish

ur harsh high 13's so that means you'd be a good race for my friends explorer... he has been runnin 14.2 lately so you have nothing to worry about. I think his trucks starting to get tired lol

Hey man....were you at New England Dragway by any chance I live right next to it....something I learned from my good friend who also has a WRX about launching is this. If you rev your engine and let it bounce between 4500 and 5000 rmp and dump it when you see that last yellow light you willl take off much better, my best R/T is a .580 which is pretty damn good....best of luck man

looking at slips sitting here for RT's in this stack i got .524 .546 .543 .562 and the rest were low .600's so I guess I can keep up with ya...

I drive an RS so launching is a bit different because i dont have to worry about spooling the turbo but anything more than 3500 -4000 will not launch the car well because of the stock clutch. Also it works better for me to, nistead of dumping hte clutch which will normally end up resulting in the car grabbing then bogging. If you do this in an RS I have had best results.

Get up to the line, stage, Lift the clutch until the rpms come down slightly (so its ready to engage) and hold it right before that point. Bring the RPMS up to 4000 when the last light hits light the clutch as you shove the gas pedal to the floor, useing the clutch to control RPM as you could out of the hole. If you dont put the gas pedal on the floor you will more than likely end up taking off and then bogging down, this also tends to happen to my RS if I sidestep or dump the clutch. Results in horrid 60" times. My avg 60' is 2.0 - 2.1 which isnt that bad for a 2.5 Rs running minimal mods. The nitrous didnt help my 60' time at all because of the stock clutch lol. It dropped my quarter mile time down by a second though, yet im still only trapping at 90mph.

If anyone is looking for driving or launching lessons in a WRX talk to angus.

i think it was sometime during the year but he has hahah

Honestly though he is the only person I know that kept getting faster and faster without any more mods... he took the time to learn to drive the car with the mods he had until he couldnt get it any faster and then added mods. You should try it sometime

How you been btw

Your joking right?

I did about 5 mods to my car all together and have somewhere over a hundred runs...

Angus deffinately got better at driving but theres still room for improvement. I bet I could run a 11 in it.

I been pretty good... trying to stay out of trouble... trying anyways.

How many runs does your buddy with the explorer have on that thing with the NOS now? Whats it got for miles? Amazing how safe NOS is when used correctly

not sure on runs to be honest but I knows he up to around 40+bottles through it LOL on a stock motor. I personalyl think its getting tired but it could just be that he removed the intake spacer. It runs 14.5 all the time now. We are putting the spacer back in for Fun Ford Weekend this weekend and hes going to be running 125 and 150 shots. Oh we are also gutting it

For those of you that dont know . Its a full leather interior 1999 Ford Explorer 5 Liter AWD. He runs 1.8 60's still though For some reason it needs aero help at the top end i think.

Theres angus again ... tuggin on his own... chain.

Long time no talk to you either. We still meeting someplace so I can train you to be a cyberpimp?
