Default What NOT to do to your car according to CHiPs

I was looking for the CHP phone number after some some fool forgot to tie down a bag of woodchips, and it landed 20ft in front of me on the 133.

The run down

Illegal:

Lights attached to tire valves (24003, 25250 VC).

lol

this scares me:
Note: New law (27150.2 VC) does not require law enforcement to use sound level meters to test for excessive noise. Citation is based on officer's judgment. Cited violators may have testing done at smog referee stations or may be directed by the court to have testing done. Vehicles in violation must be brought into compliance. A fine may also be imposed.

Also what car is that they used as the demo, a Toyota?

~Incorrect color of turn signal. It must be white or yellow to the front, red or yellow to the rear (24953 VC).

So it's ok if we take out the amber cover on the front signal lights?

wow the CHP site is full of useless info!

http://www.chp.ca.gov/html/truckstoppingdevice.html

This could prove dangerous, get an old junker and start driving into the back of big-rigs, watching them crash as their brakes kick in...

The truck’s mechanical emergency brakes - that work independently of the air brake system - activate automatically, causing the truck to stop. The truck driver cannot override the mechanical brakes and cannot drive farther.

However, the system cannot be reset from within a truck’s cab. The operator would be required to leave the cab and walk to the rear of the truck to effect repairs.

then you could just drive away

some of the laws make sense, but other ones really do not:

Headlights brighter or higher wattage than those from the factory. You may be able to see better, but the lights are illegal (24011 VC). [i/]

this is dumb. so those sylvania silverstar lights you can get form kragen that are supposedly legal actually are not, since they are brighter. and any HID kit is definitely not legal. it's stupid. they'd rather see us driving with yellowish incandescent bulbs than nice white lights that are adjusted properly and don't blind people. yet SUVs with high lights that shine right in everyone's eyes are A-OK i guess.

Illegal color of side marker lights. If present, must be yellow in the front and red in the rear (25106, 24003 VC).

so basically, you can take out the orange bulb condoms in the front, but you cannot put white side markers. those are illegal.

Illegal lights, whether or not they are operating. It is illegal just to have them on the vehicle (24003 VC).

guess i'll take off those rope lights i just bought. oh well.

Lowered frame (or any other part) that is lower than the lowest point of the wheel rim (24008 VC).

this is a wierd one, and probably will never apply to subarus. also, if you have a low car with high profile tires, you can be breaking the law, but you can have a lower car with rubber band tires and be legal. i don't get it.

Air and hydraulic suspension systems that are operated unsafely or with the vehicle lower than allowed (24002, 24008 VC).

hmmm...well i don't have a CARB sticker on my airbags. i guess i'm screwed there.

anyway, i think the laws are good, but funny.

OK HKS and GREDY need to get some of our **** CARB legal. I was looking at ARB web site and found that they have so many excemptions CARb legal stuff but none of it is SUBARU not one thing. They have intercoolers, intakes blah blah, list goes on and no subaru products are legal. Someone who knows them please tell them to get a move on and do this. I think I am going to write them a letter AHAHA

So what about the cars that come with HID's? So wait, you can only have bright lights if you have a bunch of money?? that seems a little unfair. Plus, if poor people dont have the money to see OR have insurance, arent we all in trouble??
