Default In Need Of Help!

My car will not start! I probably sound like a complete moron but I have no idea why apart from the battery is dead. My lights were on for about 40 minutes while I was doing some re-wireing of my radar detector (which is now not working but thats another damn story). Should the cabin lights and dash lights and stero work if the battery is dead or is something else up? When I come to start the car it makes a kuhuhuhuhuhuu grinding noise. I have no idea what it could be so Please can someone help me out by giving me an opinion?

-Matt

When did you have your last tune-up? I had that to happen and replaced the spark plugs. Check battery, plugs, alt and fuses.

Yes, very likely, considering the light were on for 40 min. Get a jump-start from someone and drive it around for 30 min. to recharge it. If it won't jump-start or won't start after recharging it could be a bad bad battery or a starter motor problem.

Do yourself a favor and get your alternator output checked, if all is good pick up a new battery. 40 minutes shouldn't drain a battery that much.
