Default RockBlocker ClearBra Special, $168 SALE ENDED

First of all I am not affiliated in any way with www.RockBlocker.com nor am I receiving any kind of recompense for this, I just thought I'd pass this info. along for the benefit of fellow members.

If you are considering purchasing a 3M Clear Bra for your STi, RockBlocker (a NASIOC member) has the full STi "Grand Canyon" 3M ClearBra kit available at a special (unbelievably low) price of $168, FOR ONE WEEK ONLY (the normal price is $266, or so).

In comparison, the equivalent StonGard kit costs around $500 (and this only covers a couple of extra areas like the door handle scoop and door edges that the RockBlocker kit doesn't plus StonGard has a slightly more comprehensive warranty).

Several members have already purchased this kit from Chad and have been extremely happy with the results (you can do a search on ClearBra or Rockblocker to find the threads).

I have been researching as much as I can about these 3M ClearBras for several weeks and this is honestly a true bargain. If you have any questions you can pm Chad directly from NASIOC (username Rockblocker).

I'm just about to place my order now..........

Cheers,
Bill.

It's on my white STi. No, it's not yellow. No, it's not visible from about 5 feet away. Much better than rock dings.

Third day with the car (after the 3M protection was installed) a runaway shopping cart from about 60 feet away ran into the front of the car (just outside the right headlight). Put a hand-sized dent there, but the 3M stuff worked great. No scratch or anything, just a dent. I thought paintless repair would work, but the dent is too deep. The stuff is very, very tough. No damage to the protective film, by the way. When I get the car back from repair I'll post some pics.

Chad (rockblocker) gives very solid customer service. I got a deal on mine at $266, but at $100 less...it's a no brainer. You have to have a quality installer, but Chad can help hook you up there.

RichQY,

I'm getting a white STi and it was Belvadere's assessment of the Rockblocker kit on his Aspen White STi that swung it for me in the end.

However, no matter how good the kit is, make sure you find a professionall installer with a lot of experience; it will make all the difference. Also, installation prices seem to vary tremendously; anywhere from $200 to $400.

You can order the kit directly from the Rockblocker site.....simply click on "applications", then "Subaru" then "WRX Sedan" then "STi". There are two kits for the STi and Chad recommended the Grand Canyon Kit #3636 as offering the best overall protection.

Good luck !!
Bill.

Mine is white and the Rockblocker kit looks good. Chad installed mine last week along with my white Denali. You can only see them at some angles. There is just too many shades of white in the front of the STI to say the kit has a yellow tint. I'm very happy with his install and the kits, I just wish I waited a week.

Silver Ghost,

Not sure exactly when the deal expires.........Chad passed along the info to me in a pm since I've been bugging him constantly over the last several weeks for info and advice. Send him a pm (Rockblocker) he's usually pretty prompt with replies.

He can probably recommend an installer too. If not, you could try some of the major Clear Bra dealers/installer websites (like www.stongard.com or www.xpel.com); they usually list all their affiliated installers countrywide. You might want to check that they would be willing to install a customer-supplied kit, rather than their own more pricey version.

Bill.

GTjon,

Unless you plan on installing the kit yourself, your best bet is to try one of the following three installers for the NYC/NJ area. Keep in mind that the first two may try to sell you their own Clear Bra kit; you should enquire whether they will be happy to install a customer-supplied kit.

1) Go to www.se-ex.com and click on "contact us". These guys do a lot of installs for prestige dealers in NYC (they're based in Elmhurst).

2) The Tint Shop in Edison NJ (near Rutgers). You're looking at ~$370 just for labor (5.5 hour install).

3) Lee Berrebi is a NASIOC member (username leeberbs) and has done a number of great installs on NASIOC memers' cars. He works out of "Lee's Tint" in NJ which is situated near exit 138 on the GSP. He would probably be happy to install a RockBlocker kit if you provided it (and I guess might have the lowest labor charges?).

Best,
Bill.

You rang Eric. You can go to www.rockblocker.com and go to the application section of the site.

Yes I am sitting here going why I am doing this. Well I didnt do it on purpose. When the update happened for all the new kits available there was a glitch in the data that caused the prices to reflect $100 cheaper for the GC kits. I didnt want this, but if you cant beat them join them. Wed is it.

If you need anything call today or email me.

This price is not much more than just buying the sheets of film, before the cutting! I know, because I have done a couple of hood installs and a bumper wrap on an M3 with a friend, and just ordered the materials for the STi.

This is a great price on a great product.

how does it look? I mean.. does the clear bra cover the whole hood? or only the bottom 1/3? how much of the bumper and front 1/4 panels do they cover? I really like the idea of the clear bra, but I hate it when I see the line between the clearbra and no-clearbra halfway up the hood.

it doesn't cover the entire hood. I'm not sure how much of the bumper it covers, check the website?

I can understand the people that dislike the lines. I don't understand the people who would rather have the rock chips than the lines.

Yes there is a light kit available.

The hood is covered for a third up. I agree with the line and rock chip comment. The bumper is covered out the hup on the side next to the fog light area. It is hidden very well in the body lines of the car.

You can look at pics of what it looks like here

I know everyone recommends using a proffesional to install it but how hard is really? Has anyone done it themselves? Also how long will this look good, does it eventually (7-10yrs?) start yellowing or get hazy?

I've done a hood and helped out on a bumper. I'm not sure how to describe how hard it is, the hoods are pretty easy. the bumpers can be a lot harder. The precut kits would remove most of the difficult issues I had to deal with on the bumper, since we did a full wrap from a single sheet on that.

If you're looking for a 100% job, I'd say you can get there on your second hood. For the bumper, precut, you're probably in the same ballpark.
