Exclamation Autometer guage problems

I've just finished installing a set of autometer phantom guages in my 2000 RS and have some problems. Anyone have any ideas?

#1. The boost/vaccuum guage is off. It never gets to 0 vaccuum, it goes up to about -5 in/mercury. Even when the car is off, it shows vaccuum.

#2. The EGT guage works fine, but after the car is running for a few minutes, the guage fogs up on the inside. Its in the center guage pod, so I thought the HVAC vents right behind it might be the problem, but the guages right next to it are fine. If the car is turned off and let sit for a while, the guage clears up.

If the gauge shows vacuum with the engine not running it is likely defective. Does it still do this if it is completely disconnected?

Guess everyone was right to say buy the Japanese products.

Full_Clip still doesn't like Defi guages.

it should not read in the negatives if the car is just sitting there. Another reason your glass fogs up is the fact that the gauge itself has been dropped and now you have condensation from the AC unit. There's air in your gauge.

This can happen to any mechanical boost gauge, just drop it on the ground and I'll guarantee the needle goes off 0 at rest. Of course no one will do this purposely, but think about when it gets shipped to you the abuse that box takes.

You can try to take the light out and mess with the internals of it to get the needle to rest back at 0, I tried doing this with one of my friend's autometer boost gauge and it appeared to work fine. Then to test it I took out my GReddy electronic boost gauge to put on his car and test it out. The peaks matched up pretty close, just wasn't as responsive.

Thanks! I just tried this and it now reads 0. Seems to work fine. I also put some aluminum foil around the HVAC vents so there is less air getting out behind the console. This seemed to fix the fogging problem for now.
