Default Back on the West Coast and Need Service

Hi all,

My WRX and I moved out to Boston about two years ago, and now I'm back here for a month or so before moving to SF. In the past month my WRX (52K miles) has developed some issues. At the very least the driver side wheel bearing needs replacing, but I'm afraid that the CV and spindle are likely toast as well. In addition, I got a new clutch about 7000 miles ago (warranty), but the tranny has been uncharacteristically noisy in 1st and 2nd gear since.

My car is lightly modded with SPT suspention, STi front calipers, MRT uppipe and turbo-back, and intake. I must admit I was rather pleased to get the clutch replaced under warrenty, and am wondering if there are dealers that are more leniant than others. The car sees a fair amount of track time as well, so if I have to pay for the wheel bearings/CV/spindle, I'm okay with that, but the tranny should not be dying considering I never EVER drag or launch the car.

Assuming my car gets repaired...any open track events in the coming month???

Thanks,

Berndt

We should just put a 'where to go for service' sticky

Dealerships - I'm 100% satisfied with Carter in Shoreline, and Auburn's got a great guy in the service department.

For out-of-pocket stuff I will only take my car to Smart Service, also in Shoreline. Mike and the guys are true professionals with years of Subaru experience, and they're always going out of their way for the Subaru community.

For alignments I take my car to Europa in Bellevue. Mike over there (different Mike) is an enthusiast and a racer himself and he'll get your car set up the way you want it.

If you bust, bend, or scratch a wheel I've heard nothing but great stuff about Foster's Wheel Service in Seattle.

Well I've got an appointment set up with Carter for the 7th. Hopefully I can get some of this covered.

I absolutely agree about Smart Service. I have been running around the Boston area for two years with their licence plate frame. If this all ends up to be out of pocket, I will be taking it there.
