Default My car needs YOUR help!

My car has a little bit of a problem. Under normal accelaration in just about any gear, it tends to kind of hesitate. Now, it is not noticable when I look at the tach and if I were to stomp on the throttle it will respond as well as it can. This is not really causing any problems, except that I know it is doing it and everytime this happens (which is OFTEN) it bothers me. It is like the power is being cut-off/restricted for a 1/2 second.

I have put a new fuel filter in, cleaned the K&N, run fuel injector cleaner though and ran Super Premium gas, and nothing has helped. Did the ECU reset too. No dice. My plugs are NGK coppers that were put in last summer.

Any suggestions of what to try next would be very appreciated.

Jared

Did this start before or after you re-oiled your K&N?

this started before I re-oiled the K&N. I actually did the procedure as a hopeful cure to the problem. Your possibly thinking oil on the MAF, or whatever it is? I don't think that is the problem.

Any other ideas...

Did you consider trying the infamous "grounding mod"? It's not really a mod, IMO, but many people have said it alleviated similar symptoms on their cars. Personally it didn't do much for me, but it might be worth a try.

oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I have already done that, about a year ago.

The only thing that I can even remotely link to the beginning of this problem was the first time I used the AC for an extended period, but I don't think there really is a connection, but maybe...

So it hesitates regardless of whether the A/C is on or off?

Default yes

It hesitates when the AC is off. Only time I don't notice it is when I am on it hard, making shifts at high rpms, and then I am at highway speeds where I VERY rarely notice it, if ever. don't really notice it about 4,000 rpms.

How old are the plug wires? Any arcing visible at night? (Asking b/c you have a '98 and should have replaced the wires by now -- they might cause the same kind of problem).
