Default Getting closer to the 2.5l turbo swap.

Ok itís down to two shops in town to do the engine swap from a 04' Baja Turbo into MY00 Legacy. I know most of you have been watching me look at the turbo bolt on, but I think for simplicity and reliability for a base, I can not beat this swap. I can order and receive the engine for 5k and can enjoy the semi-closed deck and 8.2:1 shipping included.

The last few items I am trying to run down is the ECU issues, and what?....?...?

I would like to ask the group what else should I be looking for and/or asking about to make this swap. The mounting bolts are the same as the 2.5l N/A in the Legacy due to the same chassis. The hood from the Baja will also be ordered.

The last question would be what does our 2.5l engine go for with 40k miles and so clean you could eat off of it?

This is a cross post in the conversion forum as well.

Just out of curiosity, would it make any sense for you to just wait ~1 year and sell/ trade your car in for a new Turbo Legacy? They're right around the corner...

I know it'll be more expensive, etc. But there's something awfully tempting about a factory warrantied setup.

I kinda feel like it would make more sense to drop a fresh motor into an older car, like mine, than to put that much work into a newer model.

-- these are just some random thoughts--

You'll need the different (BAJA T) engine crossmember to fit the turbo mainifold. At least I would assume that much.

I say go for it! I'd love to see it done & would love to do it to my wife's Legacy! It is a very solid set-up.

Does this EJ25T come with turbo, intercooler, etc? I would think you'd want the stock ECU for the engine or a fully programable one (Link Plus, TEC III, Haltek, etc.).

I'd think $900-1300 could be what you'd get out of your 2.5L with 40k miles on it.

Good luck, keep us up to date if you go that route!
