Default Suggestions for remote start and basic alarm for '04 WRX??

Hey Guys,

I Need suggestions for a good, reliable basic alarm with remote start capability (5spd). The Viper and Clifford RSIII look nice, but I don't know if I need all of the extras.

Where is the best place to order on-line?

Thanks,

Take care,

Whit

I love my Viper 790XV. I installed it myself, and I have the remote start setup (I *really* dig that in AZ with the A/C) and a power trunk release. I also added a glass breakage sensor in tandem with the standard shock sensor, and I am waiting to install an RF/Proximity sensor as I am not sure how I am going to wire it yet. A couple of things that I changed for taste were:

1. The valet button. I got a nice pushbutton switch from Radio Shack, and decided to get a matching one to replace the included valet button. The included one is kinda tall and thin, and can deform the plastic that it's mounted to if pushed improperly (plus I just didn't like how it looked ).

2. The LED. I got a green VARAD LED from a car audio shop in town that was a LOT brighter than the stock red one. The red one wasn't all that bright, although there are blue ones that DEI makes that are supposed to be brighter. I got mine for $10, although you can find 3-packs of LEDs in all kinds of colors at Autozone for the same price. They look cheesy in the package (very, very cheesy), but they are *very* close in size to the DEI ones (7/16" vs. 9/16" for the DEI) and fit flush. In addition, I wired up two of them in series (you have to wire them in series) in a second 790XV I installed and they were great. You don't need to be stuck with red anymore .

Overall the unit has performed as billed, and I would highly recommend it. I got both units for $235 each, but DEI just came down hard on some shops that were selling them without installation (read: online) so they will be hard to find. If you want to install it yourself (and you might have to if you want remote start enabled) try eBay. Also, there are a great deal of directions to get it working on this site. I would suggest searching for "netZ" or "quynce" to find them.

HTH

Thanks buddy, I'll check EBAY--I really don't need anything fancy.

ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS FOR ON LINE DEALERS??

Hey, I found this on ebay for $107--remote start, hood pin, etc...would you take a look at it and tell me if it has everything I should get?
