Question reprogrammed ECU vs. piggyback (UTEC)

Does it void the warranty to have your ECU reprogrammed? Would the UTEC be a better option with this as a consideration?

Does it void your warranty? No. Is there a huge 500 post discussion about this somewhere? Yes. Look in the warranty forum or do some searching. SOA, not the dealer, voids part/all of your warranty. Will you dealer perform warranty service on your car if the electric windows no longer function? Yes. Will they do the same if your turbo no longer functions? Maybe...it depends on what comes out of your mouth and if you leave the ECU in and they get REALLY in depth with it or not. There are many opinons on this, many right and many wrong, please search and decide for yourself. One post I found was an email snippet from SOA that said "The only thing that will void your warranty is by removing your vehicle from the country". You decide.

Cobb's official opinion: "Any modification to your vehicle resulting in a failure that can be directly attributed to the modification is not covered under Subaru's warranty. There are many laws in place designed to protect both the consumer and the manufacturer. In the end, if the laws are executed in the manner they were designed, fairness usually prevails."

Default warranty

Thanks. I didn't realize there was a warranty forum. I was searching for answers in the ECU/tuning forum.
