Angry Attn: Warning STi owners!!!

The other day some dirt bag stole my foglight covers. Remember they only take a few seconds to pull off. I went to the dealer to by new ones and they told me they would cost me $300 a cover!!! So if you have some spare time, try to figure out how to bolt them down!!
Instead of replacing them I decided it would be cheaper to get everything to install the JDM fogs instead.

Goodluck....

No way do I believe that for a second. Please prove me wrong!

Edit: Proved you wrong:

http://www.kastleskorner.com

These are not replicas:
They come painted from the factory in Japan. Snap in place and include the STI stickers on the covers.

This is a complete set, LH & RH sides. These are designed for installation into a MY04+ Subaru Impreza

PRICE: $125.00 USD

*warning* your dealer is on crack!

vividracing has them for $65 each, which is still too much. So you should be able to find them for about $50 each, which once again is too much IMO.

Let me guess...the $300.00 is only for the bare plastic.
You then need to take them to a body shop to get them primed and painted...Oh, plus you'll still have to by the stickers!

...so for parts, material, labor, tax, the total comes to $700.00 each!

An insurance claim is also an option. FYI, dealer pricing is always through the roof.

Hmm, www.subaruwrxparts.com has just about anything you could ever need (usually painted and decal'd). The foglights run 140 per set there... good luck in whatever you decide to do.

the covers are 140, and the actual 04+ fog lights are 210 on that site, if you look in the RS secion.

If person has no immediate intent of removing the covers then how about a small bead of clear silicone around the edges Perhaps leaving a few small places where an exacto knife could be placed to cut the bead. I know an extremely hard tug of war may still pull them off , but a person who doesn't know might be fooled.

If your dealer was a real dirt bag... they would just happen to have a color matched set in stock (slightly used).

If any thing engrave the next set on the back so they posibly can be found in the future...

people suck.

Hey CirrusWRX you didn't prove me wrong. I went to the dealer and that's what they told me. Maybe you didn't read that part. Either way, I don't care if you can find them for five dollars. I don't want to have to replace them once a month because some jerk decides to steal my covers.

Question covers?

UUUhhhhhh.... can I ask a question? Why does Subaru have covers down there, instead of honest to goodness fog lights? I hope I don't hear that it's because "that's what the rally car has" - that's a copout on Subaru's part.

Don't forget that the front tow hooks are behind the foglight covers!

There's a set of rear hooks, too, though.

Because the HIDs are bright enough.

Most people i know just drive with their fogs on a suplimentary lighting, with the HIDs on the STi, the light from the fogs would be overpowered by the main beams. I guess thats why they didn't put them on the USDM ones.

The Canadian ones without the HIDs have fogs don't they?

Maybe that price includes the fog lights...and the front bumper too!

Can I suggest two ideas - just guessing:
1. They'll say "to save weight - this is a performance car and it don't come with no stereo and no floor mats cause they weigh too much"

2. Real reason (IMO) to keep the price as low as possible.

Hey man - I hope you're just jokin around, cause that's all I was doin. Yes i read you went to the dealer, hence the reason why I just wanted you to realize they were either pullin your chain, looked up the wrong parts, or are SERIOUSLY interested in bending you over-- I didn't want you to have to pay $300.00 for something that you could buy online for $125.00 -- that's all. I didn't mean any harm by it, and was just tryin to help.

Hey CirrusWRX,
I'm just bent that I have two ugly holes in my bumper right now. The covers come off way too easy. I figure in the long run it will be better if I just get the fogs. Those take a little longer to pull out.

Yeah - I hear ya. People really suck who do ish like that. And as was mentioned, while I haven't really seen one up close, there aren't a lot of options for keeping those things on there in the event you ever have to get them off again! Fogs sound like a decent idea.
