Talking Battle of the Imports in Bakersfield

Is anyone planning on spectating or competing? I'm planning on taking pictures and video.

Battle of the Imports Website

The Easy Street WRX will be attempting to break their own record (9.97 @ 141.93mph) and they will also have a wagon out there (which I got to drive yesterday ) that will be attempting to break the wagon record.

I'm thinking of going.
I need to shoot some video for an upcoming DVD I'm
doing.
I'd love to get that easy street WRX on tape!
Are you 100% sure they're gonna run it?
I'd hate to go all the way out there and not see any WRX's.

There are 3 Subaru's that I know of running from ESX (740hp + (keep the plus a secret ) a 500hp WRX wagon and a 300+ hp WRX Sedan. And if you need footage (launches from the line etc.) or still pictures. I can supply you with that type of stuff. Just grab me at the event and we'll talk.

Thanks Mario,
I just might take you up on that offer.
I had spoke to someone from easystreet at Timmons Subaru in Long Beach a couple months ago at a mini-meet they had, about shooting their
record breaking WRX in action. I have yet to contact them though, been busy with other projects.
But no time like the present to get this project of mine underway.
Which Video cam do you use?
I'm still using my trusty 3-chip Sony VX-1000
and a new lipstick camera I'm eager to use.

We use the TRV-22 and a couple of Canon D-60's with an assortment of lenses. We're waiting for Canon to release their new HiDef MiniDV's to pick up at least one of them.

mlambert, I agree. But the D1 won't be bad either

Haven't heard any news about Canon releasing a miniDV Hi-Def.
I'm gonna look into it.
But I know JVC's Hi-Def is out. Haven't played with it yet.
I'm gonna buy the 24p panasonic cam in about 6 months.
Unless sony comes out with a 24p cam by then?
I love trying to keep up with technology!

Better put a cage in your car. The second you go faster than 11's, you'll be disqualified.

Yeah I've got a VPC set and ready (just need to plug it in and tune it), an 02 eliminator DP, an HKS intake, fuel pump and ported 14b sitting waiting to go in possibly tomorrow.
All that and running about 16-18psi (with some octane booster or 100oct) and some nearing bald 15" tires should be fun. Oh and the fastar weight reduction (no hood).

VPC works great. How are you going to tune it though? The dials on the VPC don't do enough to do any real tuning, you will need the GCC for the VPC to tune it well. Also, were did you mount the intake temp sensor? Proper posistioning is vital for good drivability. HKS recommends that you install it right near the throttle body. Problem with that is if your car sits at idle for any amount of time, it will get heat soaked and give you a totally wrong reading. I had major drivability problems with my MR2 Turbo. The engine would die at every stop light. I ended up mounting the temp sensor right after the intercooler outlet pipe. Worked fantastic.

Are you running on the stock turbo? My buddy had a 94 eclipse. He had the HKS sport turbo, VPC, GCC, HKS injectors, Bosch pump running 17psi. He pulled on my MR2, which did a 109mph at Carlsbad, so we figured he'd easily do over 110mph. (This should be a very similar setup to yours)

Anyhow, before he installed the GCC and tuned it, the car ran like a 102mph. You really need a GCC.

Matt

Wow, HKS still make it:

BTW, I ran my MR2 at the track with just a VPC, no GCC. I ran the VPC dials at 12 o'clock, full back and full forward... made no difference what so ever. What I'm trying to say is you'll need the GCC

I'm looking to run an SAFC (offers more adjustability compared to the GCC but if I find a great deal on one I might not pass it up) when I get the time to pick one up but considering that I am running the stock intake plumbing at the moment since I don't want anyone to drop by "my open hood special sale". Trust me anything is better than trying to get good flow through a stock MAF.

I may just remove the intake plumbing all together or make a LMS (lowes motorsports for you non DSM owning types).
The IAT is in the throttle body elbow about 4" from the TB.

If I get it all in and run I'm figuring mid 13's at @101-103 depending on some factors.

Getting rid of the MAF makes a HUGE improvement in airflow. On the MR2, we dyno'd a 30whp increase with the VPC.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2427091982

P.S. I'm tired and can't think... are you saying you want to run a SAFC instead of the VPC? Or run both? You won't be able to run both...

Run both SAFC and VPC. It's been done for years amongst the DSM'ers since the GCC is limited in its overall range heck even the SAFR would offer more adjustability. The best thing about the GCC is that it's plug and play simple as that.

Also Mario will be the "big dork" carrying the camera's wearing the DV imaging shirts .

That's cool! I've only worked with them on Toyotas so I didn't know you could do that.
