Does anyone know what would be involved in replacing the stock STi outside mirrors with the heated mirrors from the WRX? Ditto for the windshield wiper deicer and the heated driver's seat. I'd like to have at least the mirrors replaced, possibly the seat, and if it happens to get damaged, the windshield as well. Any Canadian folks have any additional information on this? BTW, where's the switch for the heated seat located? Thanks for any help.

In the MY02 WRX, the wiring was fundamentally different and incompatible making a retrofit difficult. Check out the STi wiring diagram (pay for download at tech-info.subaru.com)

My answer was based on the MY02, so you should check out the wiring diagram. On the MY02, the Canadian model and the US model used overlapping pins in the door connector, ie same connector but some of the heater wires were on wires that were for the mirror motors on the US car, and some of the mirror wires were on pins which were unused on the US car. Pretty wacky, certainly not plug and play unless you rewired the harnesses or bought the Canadian wiring harnesses.

I am in Canada with a Canadian-market STi.
Our driver seat is heated, but not the passenger. What about mirrors/windshield wipers? Anyone know if they are heated? man, I'd expect these items to be the same as the standard WRX- I really can't believe they'd remove stuff like this. I was surprised to see the passenger side seat heater removed. Tempted to retrofit one of those in there....then again...it's not like I'LL ever be sitting in the passenger seat..... ...Brian |
