Angry Uneven Tire wear on H6

I have a 2002 H6 wagon, which has recently developed some very nasty habits in the tire department. At the 10K service, all was well, but now - with only 14.5k on the clock - the front tires look terrible. I have had the suspension geometry, tracking, bushes etc checked by my local main agent, and they say everything is perfect. This car does not get driven hard (I have a TVR for that). Tire pressures are correct. Tires are original Yokohama 215/60/16 95V Geolandar.

The excessive wear is on BOTH edges of both front tires but is worst on the outside edge of the left one. Any ideas? - has anyone else experienced this? How long should I expect the fronts to last?

I have owned the car from new, so I know it has not been in any accidents.

I am also suspicious that the garage did not check everything properly - they only took a couple of hours checking geometry, and that included washing and hoovering the car afterwards. Didn't make me pay for it though, so I can't complain too much.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be most welcome.

Patrick

Default

excessive inside wear is usually from too much toe out

excessive outside wear can be from not enough camber w/ hard cornering or perhaps too much toe in

both edges worn is usually a sign of underinflation.

Check your tire pressure gauge against one of known calibration. If the tires are underinflated, any hard cornering will have a magnified effect on the tire.

Also, take the car to another suspension shop and have them fully check it out. It does not take hours to put it on an alignment rack and take basic readings.

good luck.
