Post What was your first car?

Just wondering what everyone's first car was (and the cars that led up to the one you're driving now).

As for me...my first car was a 1989 Honda Accord LX-i (AT). My dad still drives it now. Good solid, reliable car (210k so far)...nice to learn on I guess. My uncle gave me a 1988 Civic Hatchback STD (no options, 4sp! ) thereafter. That thing taught me alot and refined my MT skills, and it was the first car I practiced real performance driving in. Light, small and nimble, it handled pretty well...even while stock. That became my money pit for a while (new motor/tranny, turbo, suspension) but I'm done with FF. So I'm selling it now because I found what I've been searching for since I got into cars....an AE86....which is what I currently drive. I drive a 2001 Tundra SR5 V8 daily (work and back) but...that will probably change once I get the Corolla to run tip-top, reliably, everyday. The Tundra just sucks too much damn gas!

1981 Chevy Caprice Classic. The "luxury" package with chrome trim, chrome wire hubcaps, and ultra luxurious fake leather bench seats.
Damn I loved that car, waxed the hell out of it, even waxed the chrizzome trim.
Got a 93 cherokee for college, and bought my WRX 6 months or so after graduation.

First car was a 1983 Plymouth Turismo; engine/5spd powertrain/suspension of an Omni under a 2dr hatchback body. When my dad gave it to me as my 16th birthday present (Oct 1991) it needed new cam, timing belt, and brakes; I did the work under his supervision, then he repainted it. I picked a Metallic Green Flake from the Geo catalog, but it came out the color of an Andes' Candies wrapper.

I drove that until the winter of 1995, when rust underneath got so bad he didn't feel safe with me driving my younger sisters to school in it. He turned it over to one of his shop students, who promptly ran it into a tree. When the arse was trying to get it onto a flatbed, it rolled back off and hit the tree again, thereby totalling it.

After that I drove my step-mom's 87 626 until July 1998. Good car, but nothing beyond that.

In July 1998 I bought a '96 Neon ACR and rolled 90,000 onto it; the only things that ever needed work, beyond regular mnt, were a failed starter and 2 dead batteries. I handed it to over my dad this past April for my 16-yr old sister; he started working on it and discovered the rear struts were shot, the headgasket had the consistency of a wet paper towel, the brakes needed replaced, there was a short in the gauge cluster....and on and on. Basically, after about November 2002, every time the car got me to a destination was a blessing from above.

Now I'm in a 2003 WRX.

Green 97 Dodge Avenger 5MT. I miss it so much. It was pretty slow but it looked sporty and a whole lot of fun to drive.

First I car I purchased was a 1989 Nissan Sentra Sport Coupe.

200,000 miles before I sold it. Changed the clutch plate and belts. Always made sure it had Mobil 1 oil.

It seems like a good amount of people miss there first car. I think I would miss my escort if it crashed or something. I think my escort and I have a love-hate relationship. I hate her cus she is so slow.. but i love her cus she has never failed me.

Baby feces yellow with abundant rust. Had awesome times in that car, though. Yada yada yada. Half the time it didn't run. No A/C in Texas in the 105 degree summer. It was awful. First time I ever really worked on a car. Replaced the rear end with friends in my mom's driveway at 17. Then the tranny went, and I drove to my best friends house in reverse (it was the only gear that worked) 3 miles away on city streets. F'in nightmare that car was. But at $700 I'd do it again.

1980 Ford Pinto...the redesigned gas tank model with square headlights. I used to max it out on the way to school every morning.

1972 Dodge Dart Swinger with a 318 when I was 17.

Then a 1974 Plymouth Road Runner.

Then a 1993 Dodge Shadow ES which I converted to a 5-speed in 1999. At the same time I had a 1973 Dodge Challenger that I was restoring.

Then bought the '01 RS in Nov of 2000 which met a horrible fate two months ago, so now I'm pimpin' in a 1989 Honda Prelude auto. I still have a 1971 Plymouth Road Runner which is also being restored.

1983 Toyota Celica, hatchback variant. It was a great car, I beat the crap out that car too, but because it was RWD I was drifting all over the place, I just did it because it was fun and becuase I was comfortable doing so becuase the go kart I had as kid was rear engine rear drive, can you say oversteer?
