Question Blitz DSBC settings

Hi,

Has anyone installed a Blitz DSBC boost controller in their WRX yet?

I just installed mine yesterday, and am looking for some advice on the settings...

I currently have it set:

Boost: 20%
Warning/Limiter: 1.05Kg/cm2 (dial-back -7%)
Gain: 5
Scramble: 0/0 (off)

Could anyone explain what the scramble setting does? From what I gather, it will promote a boost spike of a certain ratio for a certain number of seconds. Maybe I'm thick, but I thought this was bad? Anyway, I turned it off!

Any help, much appreciated!

Edit:

Just changed things a bit as the above settings seemed to be too conservative - i.e. only hitting .5Kg/cm2.

New settings:

Boost: 45%
Warning/Limiter: 1.05Kg/cm2 (dial-back -7%)
Gain: 5
Scramble: 0/0 (off)

With these settings, I'm hitting a peak of .78Kg/cm2. Does anyone know what the stock Kg/cm2 setting should be?

I can't think of my settings right now, I'll check when I get home and post them. I have a few mods though so of course settings will be different with your mods.

I have the unit set:
52% boost
0 gain
1.07 warn

Seems to work fine. The solenoid clicking is somewhat annoying though.

Question

I must say I am pretty confused by the DSBC unit. The readout is in kg/cm2, which is how many PSI or Bar? Is 1.00 kg/cm2 1 bar or 14.7 PSI or is the Blitz outputting differently? What good is the boost gauge on the controller if it does not give a real boost reading which we can read?

Also, where did you guys mount your units? I put mine in the little blank silver plate over the radio to the left of the cupholder. It is a really cool place to have it, though we did have to cut the plastic to mount it. Still, it is right in front of me and very readable/accessable.

What about the clicking? Do you other dsbc guys have the clicking under the hood as well? Does it get any better with time?

JaMa:

Check out my site, under the DIY Mods area. The first link takes you to a calculator page...

calculate to your hearts content.

Fast Facts...
The stock wastegate is .6 kg/cm2

~13.5 is .95 kg/cm2

1.10 kg/cm2 is around the 15/15.5 area..

If you scramble to about .5 above that your pretty safe. With out some sort of octane booster you are playing with fire above 1.1 kg/cm2 guys... You could run fine... or KNOCK HARD. Your call!

P.S. these are the settings I run on my EVC IV..
