Unhappy Pinging between 2-2.5k....

Don't know if this has been going on for long with my car but now that I have been driving the backroads here in Jefferson County, Ohio..I hear pinging between 2k and 2.5k Does it a lot in that rpm range......I've noticed it only when I am lightly on the gas. When I get on it it doesn't do it. I'm just wondering if it is a bad tank of gas or if some other issues are arising....

I get that sometimes as well in both of our Imprezas, the '01 and '02.

It usually happens when its very warm outside (read, Florida) and I go up to the next level octane for the car. I normally use regular, but try to do at least a tank of premium once a month.

I get it too. I posted the similar topic last month or so. I was reading the owner's manual, and it says that on a uphill/accelearation, it is normal to hear pinging.

I'm hoping it's just the crappy gas back here in the armpit of the Ohio valley.....I actually haven't heard it much today so maybe temp in addition to high humidity and hill climbing were the problems...dunno..
