Default cobb question...MORE POWER

What can i do after i have the cobb stage 2, w/ uppipe and turboback?

i want more power, but don't want to make my reflash useless, and keep the stock turbo.

Any recommendations
ie. ic hoses? etc.
thanks in advance,
alan

You could probably push the car to be a little bit more aggressive with an upgraded intercooler and a custom dyno-tune.

Other than that I'd say you're SOL unless you get a bigger turbo.

BTW... this should be in Factory Forced Induction

batmanalan,
I'm at the same level your at Cobb stage2-up/down pipe- catback-pulleys.
I ordered a set of Samco IC hoses. You could try that and some pulleys.Maybe port and polish stock turbo? Is there any benifit to going with a larger IC on stock turbo?
I think thats about it. I'm just wanting for Cobb to release the VF-30 reflash. So hurry up and release it!

NO... that is INCORRECT

If you want to make your ECU play checkers then I'm the man to talk to. If you want to make your car go fast then you need to talk to Trey or Josh here at the shop.

Not a week passes where I don't say something like,
"I need to do blah and blah to my car."

and Trey is like,
"Uhmm... no.... that's a bad idea."
and so on

I'm learning tons tho

the downside of pulleys is just way to great for what it does...
i guess i have to keep searching, or just be happy w/ it.

What downside? There are only two "problems" I have heard about with them. The Vishnu underdrive set can cause problems. If I remember correctly, they make/cause/fool the car into pinging. This only applies to Vishnu's pulleys and not everyone with their pulleys has this problem. The other one is that it can cause a false rev limiter on an aftermarket ECU such as Cobb's. This can be quickly seen/felt and can be fixed by putting the stocker back on. This problem is NOT brand specific and applies to all makers of lightened and underdriven pulleys. Worst case is you are out $20 or so if you have to sell it. Is there another problem you are referring to?

P.S. Oman, I assume you work for Cobb....if so, you will be seeing my ECU tomorrow!

ive just heard of them underdriving the utilities, causing to problems, i did a search and no one seemed really hapy w/ them. Al dustin at buzz off also told me they are not worth it...jsut numerous opinions, so i guess all i can do is ic hoses.

I'm in the same boat as you guys.

I have a Godspeed Uppipe/ Godspeed Downpipe, custom mid-pipe, Prodive axel back, K&N drop in, Vishnu IC hoses, Vishnu Main Power Pulley (no issues, I'm lucky?), TurboXS MBC and removed intake silencer.

I'm looking at ditching the MBC and getting a Cobb (or similar) reflash. But I'd like a definate answer on whether or not at VF30 map is going to come out. If it is, I'll get a Stage 2 reflash now, then send mine back in for a 2nd reflash when more maps are out. (a 2nd reflash from Cobb is only $20!!)

Brad B.
I have heard that the VF-30 reflash is soon to be released, but I dont know when. You can always go out to Cobb for a custom flash.
I can wait cause I still need time to save up for the turbo and injectors anyway

There is a local guy with Cobb Stage 2 reflash & one of Mr. Josh's lightweight non-underdrive crank pulleys with zero issues & tons of pull!!!!

I/C hoses will help, but not that much when you're already at the level you're at. Pulley is the same too, minimal increases unlikely to be that noticable. If it isn't enough & you aren't wanting to change turbos... Call Cobb. They could probablly offer up a I/C upgrade & maybe mate & intake to it & offer you a different reflash. I know intakes don't do much, but I did hear Cobb does have maps for most intakes on the market upon request, but not advertised on their site.

At the point you're at... turbo upgrade, I/C upgrade, Injector upgrade is really the only 'big gain' option.

I seem to remember someone at a similar level as all of us that got a custom tune, that the stock intercooler was holding things back a bit. I would call Cobb and see what they say though.

Default Cobb Stage 2

I have the stage 2 and IC hoses and Vishnu underdrive pulley and no issues with the pulley. Both are relatively easy mods and provide noticeable benefits.

Just like to hear it from someone who has them.
thanks again

My Samco IC hoses should be here today
I'll have to install them and see if there is any seat of the pants difference.I heard about 8HP with hoses.
I've had my GFB pulleys in for about a year now. With the stage2 I haven't had any problemswith them.

water injection is also an option for you guys. Although to take full advantage of it, you'd need a custom tune. Where's accesstuner?!
