Default rear brake conversion

I was wondering how to convert the rear drum brakes on my 01 ts sedan to discs..Can I swap my rear end with one from an rs? Is there an easier way? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Please search in this forum and in the brake forum. If you still have questions, then post away.

It is definitely the hardest thing to do that I've done to my car. I'm pretty sure you'll need to redo the brake bias. Unless you're taking the thing to the track, stick with the drums.

actually initial brake touqe is reduced when you go from drim to disc. fud fade resistance is better.

not sure about how brake bias is affected, but w/ wrx fronts, the rear disc setup seems ok (except for volume issues on some model years; see jon's threads "stimpy")

the rear discs seem to offer better cooling, and better feel at heavy lever pressure, as the disc does'nt flex like the drum.

2 ways you can swap:
repalce entire knuckle, easier & costs more in parts, or disassemble the knucle & replace only the hub that fits a disc, & find matching e-cables. the second option requires pressing, like in a bearing install. i did the 1st, as all thats needed afterward is and alignment.

Bias is no worse than a factory WRX. Some people will argue that it could be shifted rearward and I can see their argument, but it is perfectly safe as it is.
