Default How did you fare on trade in for STI (WRX 02) specific?

I know there will be variances with locations on exact amounts, but I thought I would ask. My 02 WRX has 55,000 miles, so I know I am going to take a hit for the miles. Otherwise, it is in excellent shape with no wrecks, no mods, etc. Did most of you try to sell it or did you just go the trade in route? I have gathered everything I could from the net on trade in values (Edmonds, NADA, Kelly). Thanks for any information in this matter.

ps- It also seems that I have picked a color that not many are looking for, Black

I think the only bad color really is red and maybe yellow. Black you should do fine. They will probably give you an average of what edmunds, KBB and NADA say.

I got $17 for my black WRX 2002 (38,000 miles). Bought the STI for 31,500 at 4 % finance.. The WRX had a small pinhole in the windshield and 2 small dings.

I was offered 18000 for my 2002 WRX (WRB with many options, and 14000 miles.) Needless to say I sold to a PB for $20,000.

Default Trade in value

Miles are the killer. I had my 02 sold for $17k, It had 72K miles. The car was Pristine except for the miles. I had new Rota wheels and new Falken tires. The deal fell through at the last second, due to a severe family illness.
I tried to sell it here on NASIOC, started at $17k and worked my way down to $15,800. I didnt get any action, and I had the 100k extended warranty. The dealer let me take off my wheels and tires, exhaust, sway bars, and gave me $15K, 3.9% financing, and $31,400 for the STI.
I dont think you will get much action on this forum, but I would put it in your local paper and put a BIG "For Sale" sign on it. I bet you can get $17,500 Quick.

Thanks for the info everyone. I need to clarify one thing, in regards to color. I am actually looking for a black sti, and have a WRB sedan for trade in. Lots of parts on my current WRX, and I am happy to see that I can transfer almost all of them to the new Sti.
