Post Need help with RS-T ECU Code Malfuctions, and if TEC II will Solve it.

I am having alot of codes on my car. They all started when JC Sports sent me a defective Torque Chip II which messed up all my sensors and my ECU. In Fact with in an hour of install blew my ECU Fuse. I have tried replacing Both O2 sensors, which is one of the codes being thrown, with no change. The O2 Sensor are also only reading at .30V both with the new and the old ones. Here are the codes being thrown please help.

P0403 EGR Circuit Low

P1102 Pressures Sources Switching Solenoid Valve Circut Low

P0505 Idle control System Malfunction

P0443 Canister Purge Control Solenoid Valve Circuit Low

P0141 Rear O2 Sensor Malfunction

P0135 Front O2 Sensor Malfunction

Any help would be apprecited. I am thinking for some of the code that maybe I need check valves on certain vacuum lines? Also I was thinking of going TEC II but since it's running along with the stock ECU, one of the things being Idle control. I don't know if it would solve my problems.
Thanks,
Joshua

I can try to take a shot at this:

P0403 EGR Circuit Low
P1102 Pressures Sources Switching Solenoid Valve Circut Low
P0443 Canister Purge Control Solenoid Valve Circuit Low

I think these all have to do with the little bracket holding a solenoid on the passenger side front strut tower. They do have vaccuum lines going to them - the stock ECU uses those lines to read a MAP sensor that can be used to read either atmospheric pressure or intake manifold pressure. It's pretty much just for emissions purposes and I actually don't even have EGR on my engine any more; all my hoses go to a catch can.

But I think you probably do need check valves on those lines going to that solenoid and sensor to get rid of those codes.

The front/rear O2 sensor codes are a symptom of failing O2 sensors, but if you've replaced the O2 sensors with no success, I fear that the inputs on the ECU itself may be damaged, or maybe the outputs on the ECU going to those other solenoid lines are damaged. The torque chip may have had something to do with that, I'm not sure. But not knowing what wires the torque chip hooks up to, I can't help you further.

I'm obviously biased regarding the TEC-II since I have one. So I'll reserve my comment on that and let the usual suspects chip in with their copious 2cent comments.

Josh,

If you can get your hands on another ECU, you can simply plug it in and see if those codes persist. As far as I can tell, any 1997-98 EJ25 and EJ22 ECU will work.

I would even offer to plug my (actually it's Kevin Thomas') Legacy GT ECU into your car... But I think it's safer if we tried your ECU in my car first (who knows what could be shorted together?). Will you be at the NESIC meet on Saturday?

Josh,

I just checked the service manual. I noticed that all these codes have one thing in common: they all run off the "Main relay" on connector B47. This relay should be located deep inside and to the left of the driver's side footwell.

This would lead me to suspect that:
1. You have a defective relay,
2. The relay and/or its connector has been knocked loose, or
3. Wiring to/from this relay has been cut.

In particular, check that pin 63 on connector B84 on your ECU ("Self-shutoff control") shows at least 10V, and that it is powering the Main relay. Then trace the other wires coming from the relay for damage.

Wayne,
I will be there on Saturday. Any help you could offer would be apprecited. Edwin thanks for you help as well. Wayne you have a Scan tool don't you? I will bring some check valves to the meet and I can try and see if they make a differance.
